Doctor shares shocking CT scan of patient who consumed undrcooked pork. Here is why you should avoid

Do you know what happens to your body when you eat undercooked pork? In a recent post on X, an American doctor from Florida emergency department released a disturbing CT scan of a patient who was admitted after consuming undercooked pig's meat. Dr Sam Ghali, revealed on social media that the patient was diagnosed with cysticercosis, a tapeworm infestation.

What is cysticercosis?

Cysticercosis is an infection caused by the ingestion of the tapeworm Taenia Solium. This condition occurs when a person ingests tapeworm eggs through contaminated food, water, or surfaces.

Dr. Ghali explained that consuming undercooked pork can lead to the development of mature tapeworms in the gastrointestinal tract, a condition known as intestinal taeniasis. In severe cases, the larvae can migrate to the brain, forming cysts and causing headaches, confusion, and seizures.

He wrote on X, "The prognosis for cysticercosis is generally good but unfortunately some cases are fatal. It's estimated that around 50 million people worldwide are infected each year resulting in ~50,000 deaths. Treatment options include anti-parasitic therapy, steroids, anti-epileptics (neurocysticercosis), and surgical removal."

The CT scan image reveals small, rice grain-like particles scattered around the bones in the patient's lower body, indicating the severity of the infection.
