Condom myths busted: Leading gynaecologist has this to say

Condoms are the biggest saviour when it comes to prevent unwanted pregnancies, but there are many misinformation and myths around it.

Gynaecologist Amina Khalid debunks some of them:

• Condoms do protect against STIs, but they may not protect against all sexually transmitted infections like herpes, HPV, and syphilis.
• Using 2 condoms together for extra protection is a big no, as it causes friction which can increase the chances of breakage.
• We often buy condoms without checking expiry date, but the material used in condoms expire and degrades with time increasing the risk of breaking it.
• You should not use extra lubricants like Vaseline, oils and creams, with condoms as they weaken them.
• If you're allergic to latex condoms, you can use non-latex condoms which are safe to use.
