Actor Rituraj Singh passes away at 59 due to cardiac arrest, know why there's a surge in heart attacks

Actor Rituraj Singh passed away at the age of 59, due to cardiac arrest. As per a report by ETimes, the actor was hospitalised recently following which he suffered a cardiac arrest.

The news has sent shockwaves among the film fraternity and his fans and well wishers. This has come at a time when there is a sudden surge in heart attacks.

Why have the cases of heart attacks been increasing in the recent past?

The cases of heart attacks have been increasing in the recent past. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC) said that the high rates of obesity and high blood pressure are the reasons why the incidence of heart disease has become prevalent in people in 40s and 50s these days. Moreover unhealthy lifestyle choices are accountable for most heart disease cases.

Why heart diseases are common among people?

Heart attacks are typically associated with older age due to the cumulative effects of risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, diabetes, and obesity, which tend to increase over time. However, they can occur in younger individuals as well.

Here are some reasons why heart attacks might be prevalent in young people:

Genetic Factors: Some individuals may have a genetic predisposition to heart disease, including conditions like familial hypercholesterolemia, which can lead to early onset of atherosclerosis (hardening and narrowing of the arteries) and increase the risk of heart attack at a young age.

Unhealthy Lifestyle: Poor lifestyle choices, such as a sedentary lifestyle, unhealthy diet (high in saturated fats, sugars, and processed foods), smoking, and excessive alcohol consumption, can contribute to the development of risk factors for heart disease even in young people.

Obesity: The rise in obesity rates among young people is concerning because obesity is a significant risk factor for heart disease. Excess weight can lead to conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, and dyslipidemia, all of which increase the risk of heart attack.

Stress: Chronic stress, both psychological and physical, can contribute to the development of heart disease. Young people today may experience high levels of stress due to various factors such as academic pressure, work pressure, financial stress, and social pressures, which can impact their heart health.
