Neena Gupta's suji cheela is a power-packed breakfast to start your day with, here's the recipe

Actor Neena Gupta recently shared her wholesome meal on social media, featuring homemade suji cheela with chutney.

Suji cheela is a popular Indian breakfast rich in essential nutrients like iron and vitamin B. It is made with various vegetables such as spinach, tomatoes, bell peppers and more, enhancing its nutritional value.

This breakfast option is low in calories, easily digestible, improves gut health and aids in weight management.

Recipe for suji cheela

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the semolina, yogurt, and water to make a smooth batter. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes to allow the semolina to absorb the liquid.
  • After resting, check the consistency of the batter. It should be pourable but not too thin. Add more water if needed.
  • Add the chopped vegetables, onion, green chili (if using), coriander leaves, salt, cumin seeds, and turmeric powder to the batter. Mix well to combine.
  • Heat a non-stick skillet or tawa over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil or ghee.
  • Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the skillet and spread it evenly to form a thin circle.
  • Drizzle a little oil or ghee around the edges of the cheela and cook for 2-3 minutes on medium heat until the bottom turns golden brown.
  • Flip the cheela and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until cooked through and crispy.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining batter to make more cheelas.
  • Serve the suji cheelas hot with chutney, yogurt, or your favorite dipping sauce.
  • Enjoy your homemade suji cheelas for a nutritious and delicious breakfast or snack!
