Are the cloves in your pantry adulterated? Find out with this quick FSSAI hack

A commonly used spice in Indian kitchens, cloves are used as a tastemaker and also sometimes to ward off cough and cold. Cloves are rich in essential oils and nutrients that have, time and again, proven to have a pool of health benefits. However, you might be surprised to know that cloves can also be adulterated, which may prove harmful for you.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India shared a video to check if the cloves in your kitchen pantry are safe for consumption or not.

Take a glass of water and put some cloves in it. The unadulterated cloves will settle down at the bottom of the glass, whereas the impure ones will float on the surface of the water. This is because the volatile oils have been extracted from them, thereby lowering their density.

Do try this easy hack to ensure the cloves that you just bought off the market are safe for you to eat or not.
