FSSAI purity test: Here’s how to check for adulteration in Sella Rice

Rice is one of those kitchen ingredients that you consume on a daily basis. While there are a variety of good quality rice options in the market, there are chances of some of them being adulterated too.

Recently, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) shared a simple test that you can do at home to determe whether sella rice is adulterated with turmeric or not. Check it out and take notes!

Take some sella rice on a glass plate. Now, add a small amount of soaked lime (commonly known as chuna which is used in pan) to the rice grains. If the sella rice is unadulterated, there will be no change in colour. Adulterated grains, on the other hand, will change their colour to red.
