Bridal glow essentials: How to make ubtan at home for radiant glow

Ubtan is a traditional Indian skincare remedy that has been used for centuries. It offers brides a natural, time-tested regimen that revitalizes skin, evens tone, exfoliates gently, and unveils a radiant bridal glow for their special day. Here's a simple recipe to make ubtan at home using natural ingredients.

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons chickpea flour (gram flour)
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 tablespoon sandalwood powder (optional)
2 tablespoons raw milk or yogurt
1 teaspoon honey (optional)
Rose water (as needed for consistency)

Instructions:

  • Prepare the base: In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour (gram flour), turmeric powder, and sandalwood powder (if using). Mix the dry ingredients together.
  • Add liquid ingredients: Slowly add raw milk or yogurt to the dry mixture. Stir well to form a smooth paste. The consistency should be thick yet spreadable. If needed, adjust the consistency by adding rose water.
  • Optional additions: For added benefits, you can incorporate honey into the mixture. Honey helps moisturize the skin and has antibacterial properties.
  • Mix thoroughly: Blend all the ingredients thoroughly to ensure a uniform paste.
  • Application: Before applying the ubtan, cleanse your face or body. Then, using your fingertips or a brush, apply the ubtan paste evenly on your skin. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes or until it dries.
  • Rinse off: Once the ubtan is semi-dry or dry, gently massage your skin with wet hands to exfoliate. Rinse off the ubtan with lukewarm water, pat your skin dry, and apply a light moisturizer.
