'Will you send police to arrest your minister?': Congress asks Assam CM

Congress mocked Assam CM asking if he will get the minister of food processing arrested as the ministry's website showed a firm linked to his wife listed as a beneficiary.

'Will you send police to arrest your minister?': Congress asks Assam CM

After Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma denied the allegations that a firm linked to his wife got a government subsidy of ₹10 crore, Congress leader Pawan Khera shared a snap of a document listing the company's directors to back the claim.

The document named CM's wife Riniki Bhuyan Sharma as one of the directors of the firm.

"Will you still deny?" Khera asked Sarma.

Sarma reiterated that his wife and the company she is associated with, Pride East Entertainment Pvt Limited, have not received any subsidies from the Government of India.

Congress leaders have posted a document showing the firm named on the website of the Ministry of Food Processing website as a beneficiary.

Taking a dig at Sarma, Khera asked, "In that case, will you send Assam Police to arrest the minister of food processing?"

Earlier, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi said, "PM Modi launched the Kisan sampada scheme to double the income of the farmers of India. But in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma used his influence to help his wife's firm get ₹10 crore as part of a credit-linked subsidy. Are Central government schemes meant to enrich BJP?"

"The Ministry of Food Processing website clearly shows the name of the person and the company she is associated with. The ₹10 crore government grant has also been approved. Please report to the Union Minister if their website has been hacked," Gogoi tweeted.
