Former Kerala CM V S Achuthanandan's Health Remains Critical

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 25 (PTI) - Former Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan's health remains critical as of Wednesday, following his admission to a private hospital here after suffering a cardiac arrest two days prior.

The latest medical bulletin from the hospital states there has been no change in the condition of the veteran CPI(M) leader. He is 101 years old and continues to receive care in the intensive care unit, with a dedicated team of specialist doctors attending to him.

Earlier today, CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan revealed that Achuthanandan's condition was stable, with some improvement noted since his admission. Congress representatives mentioned that Leader of the Opposition V D Satheesan is planning to visit Achuthanandan at the hospital soon.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has already visited him and held discussions with his family members on Tuesday. Achuthanandan, a key figure in Kerala politics, has been dealing with age-related health issues in recent years and has been absent from public life.

He is the last surviving founding member of the CPI(M), which was formed in 1964 following the historic split in the undivided Communist Party. Achuthanandan served as the Chief Minister of Kerala from 2006 to 2011. Over his extensive political career, he has been elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly seven times, participating in ten elections and losing only three.
