Uttarakhand Cabinet has decided to increase the relief amount for losses caused by the recent disaster in Dharali and other areas of the state, officials said.
The kin of those killed in the disaster will now get Rs 5 lakh as opposed to Rs 4 lakh earlier. The relief amount for pucca houses damaged in this disaster has also been increased to Rs 5 lakh, while for damaged kutcha houses, an amount of Rs 1 lakh was decided to be provided from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund in addition to the prescribed relief amount from the disaster fund.
Uttarakhand suffered many instances of floods, landslides, and flash floods due to heavy rains this year, claiming lives and leaving many people missing, besides damaging civil property and state infrastructure. For commercial buildings affected by the disaster, the relief amount will be provided on a case-by-case basis.
Additionally, the Cabinet on Wednesday gave its in-principle approval for the implementation of the 'Devbhoomi Family Scheme' in the state. Under the scheme, a detailed database of families residing in Uttarakhand will be created, and they will be provided with unique family identification numbers. Following this, the families will be linked to the family ID, enabling them to receive benefits from government schemes.
Furthermore, beneficiary families will be able to know about all the schemes they are eligible for, and will also be able to check how many of the schemes they have availed.
In the meeting, it was decided to constitute a Cabinet Committee to consider the implementation of the Uttarakhand High Court's order for the regularisation of daily wage, contract, part-time and ad-hoc employees and to consider the cut-off date for the future.
The Cabinet considered the issue of providing minimum wages and dearness allowance to the employees of the Uttarakhand Ex-Servicemen Welfare Corporation (UPNL) in accordance with the High Court's order and subsequently discussed all related issues and consulted with relevant stakeholders. The Cabinet decided to constitute a subcommittee to discuss and make a decision. The subcommittee will complete this process within a two-month timeframe.
In another decision, the State Cabinet also approved a proposal to make necessary amendments to the Memorandum of Association (MOA) and Articles of Association (AOA) of UPNL to provide employment opportunities abroad to ex-servicemen, their dependents, and the youth of the state through UPNL.

For the next six months, Lord Kedarnath will be worshipped at his winter residence in Ukhimath. The closing ceremony was held amid devotional chants and the soulful tunes of the Garhwal Rifles band.
With this, three of the four Char Dham shrines have officially closed for winter. While Gangotri Dham was closed on Wednesday, Kedarnath and Yamunotri Dham followed suit on Thursday. The portals of Badrinath Dham are scheduled to close on November 25, marking the formal conclusion of the Char Dham Yatra 2025.
According to Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee sources, special arrangements were made for devotees to have darshan of Baba Kedar through the night. Devotees were allowed entry from midnight until 4 a.m., after which Baba Kedar&rsquo;s Samadhi Puja was performed from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. During the ritual, the self-manifested Shivalinga of the deity was ceremonially covered with sacred ashes, grains, fruits, flowers, Rudraksha, and a white cloth, in keeping with tradition. The inner sanctum was sealed at 6 a.m., and the main eastern gate was closed at 8:30 a.m.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was present at the ceremony and offered prayers at the shrine. After the doors were closed, the palanquin (&lsquo;doli&rsquo;) of Lord Kedarnath, carrying the five-headed idol, departed ceremonially for Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath, the deity&rsquo;s winter seat. The palanquin will halt at Rampur for the night, reach Guptkashi on October 24, and arrive at Ukhimath on October 25, where worship will continue for the next six months until the reopening next year.
CM Dhami prayed for happiness, prosperity, and welfare of the people of the state and lauded the well-planned efforts of the government, which ensured a smooth and successful Chardham Yatra this year. He also interacted with pilgrims and priests. Dhami highlighted the significance of the pilgrimage, saying: "This year, a record number of devotees have visited Kedarnath, the abode of Lord Shiva. The Chardham Yatra not only makes an important contribution to the economy of the state but also connects Devbhoomi Uttarakhand with the followers of Sanatan Dharma living all over the world."
He further said: "This year, a record number of pilgrims arrived for the Char Dham Yatra. The journey to Baba Kedar's shrine has now concluded safely. May Baba's blessings remain upon us all. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is developing Uttarakhand as the spiritual capital of Sanatan Dharma."
CM Dhami also inspected ongoing development works in Kedarnath and noted that alongside the four Dhams, various development works are being carried out in temples associated with Manaskhand.
According to official figures, 17.57 lakh devotees visited Kedarnath this year, while a total of 49.67 lakh pilgrims visited Uttarakhand, including the shrines of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath, and Hemkund Sahib. The Char Dham Yatra continues with great enthusiasm until the doors of Badrinath close on November 25. Since April 30, over 4.5 million devotees have visited the Char Dham shrines.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday met the youths protesting at the Parade Ground here against the alleged paper leak in a graduate level examination last week and assured them that the state will recommend a CBI probe.
He said an SIT under the supervision of a retired High Court judge has already started its investigation into the allegations related to the exam conducted by the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission.
But since the students are still demanding a CBI investigation, the government will recommend it, Dhami said.
"There will be no obstruction in this matter. The government doesn't want to leave any doubts or suspicions in the minds of the youth," Dhami said.
The government's sole resolve is to ensure a completely transparent examination process, the chief minister said.
Steps taken over the past four years, including the introduction of the country's toughest anti-cheating (copying) law in the state and the arrest of around a hundred members of the cheating mafia, have been in keeping with that resolve, he said.
The chief minister said that the government has conducted more than 25,000 government recruitments in a transparent manner in the last four years, and there have been no complaints.
The paper leak complaint has been raised in only one case.
Therefore, the government is fully committed to removing all doubts from the minds of the youth, he said.
After listening to the youth's perspective, the chief minister said he was unhappy with the fact that the youths were protesting in the heat during this festive season.
He said he could have had this conversation with them in his office also, but seeing their suffering, he decided to come to the protest site and meet them.
Dhami had said on Sunday that he was ready for any investigation into the alleged paper leak if required, including by the CBI, but the SIT should be allowed to finish its probe first.
He also assured the protesting youths that if any cases were filed against them during the protest, they would be withdrawn.&nbsp;

Two people were killed, five rescued alive and six feared trapped under debris as landslides and flooding triggered by heavy rain flattened more than 40 houses in four villages of Uttarakhand's Chamoli district on Thursday.
Four people were rescued alive in Kuntari Lagaphali and one in Dhurma village, the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) in Dehradun said.
Twelve people were injured, including the ones rescued alive, of whom those with serious injuries were airlifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh, officials said.
Two bodies, one each from Kuntari Lagaphali and Kuntari Lagasarpani villages were found, while the search for six people continued through the mounds of debris lying in the rain-ravaged villages in the Nandanagar area, the SEOC said.
The bodies were identified as those of Narendra Singh (38) and Jagdamba Prasad (70), it added.
Four people, including two women and a child, were rescued alive in Kuntari Laga Phali and one in Dhurma, the SEOC said.
Of the six people still missing, four are from Kuntari Lagaphali and one each is from Kuntari Lagasarpani and Dhurma, it said.
All four affected villages come under the Nandanagar area, about 260 km from Dehradun and 50 km from the Chamoli district headquarters at Gopeshwar. Nandanagar is already reeling from land subsidence. Cracks appearing on the walls of houses in the area due to subsidence had led to the evacuation of a large number of people to safe places last month.
The four villages of Chamoli hit by the Thursday morning landslides and flooding were Kuntari Lagaphali, Kuntari Lagasarpani, Sera and Dhurma, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami told reporters after reviewing the situation.
Nearly 45 houses and 15 cowsheds were damaged due to landslides and flooding in these villages, affecting more than 200 people.
Around 150 to 200 villagers in Kuntari Lagaphali have been moved to safe places, the SEOC said, adding that search-and-rescue operations are being conducted by the NDRF, SDRF, ITBP, police and fire brigade personnel in the villages under the supervision of the district magistrate and superintendent of police.
Those seriously injured, including a child who sustained head injuries, were airlifted to the AIIMS in Rishikesh, Dhami said.
The chief minister took stock of the situation in Nandanagar by speaking to Chamoli District Magistrate (DM) Sandeep Tiwari via video-conferencing and asked him to accelerate the relief-and-rescue operations.
He directed officials to ensure immediate restoration of roads, drinking water supply, electricity and network connectivity in the areas affected by rain. Adequate arrangements should be made for shelter, food, clean drinking water and other essential amenities for the disaster-hit people, Dhami said.
Doctors and medicines should be made available in the affected areas to ensure prompt medical assistance, he said.
In the Mokh valley area, heavy rain triggered flooding in the Moksha river, causing erosion in it from Dhurma to Sera, damaging dozens of buildings, including at least six houses, according to officials.
Rescue teams took time to reach the affected areas as the access road to Nandanagar was blocked by debris, Nandan Singh, an official involved in the relief-and-rescue operations, said.
Torrents of mud and boulders rolled down from the hills at three locations in Kuntari Lagaphali, destroying everything on their way, he added.
When the landslide hit the houses, some of the people inside managed to escape, Singh said, adding that they sustained injuries.

Eight people, including four members of a family, are missing in Kuntari village, where the landslide hit about half a dozen houses. The other two are from Dhurma village, where the raging waters of the Moksha river damaged multiple buildings, Chamoli District Magistrate (DM) Sandeep Tiwari said.
In Kuntari, local relief and rescue teams are conducting a search operation for those missing. The access road to Nandanagar has been blocked by debris, the DM said.
According to a list issued by the district disaster management office, those missing have been identified as Kunwar Singh (42), his wife Kanta Devi (38) and their two sons Vikas and Vishal (both aged 10), Narendra Singh (40), Jagdamba Prasad (70) and his wife Bhaga Devi (65), and Deveshwari Devi (65).
A local resident and the vice-president of the district branch of the Indian Red Cross, Nandan Singh, who is involved in the relief and rescue operations, said the swamp is hampering the rescue operation.
More than 10 people were injured but transporting them to the hospital is difficult as the road to Nandanagar is closed at several places, he said.
"We are waiting for helicopters to airlift the injured to hospital," he said.

Cloudbursts and heavy rains overnight left a trail of destruction in Uttarakhand's capital, Dehradun and several other parts of the state on Tuesday as swollen rivers washed away buildings, roads and bridges, leaving 15 people dead, 16 missing, and 900 stranded in different locations in the hill state.
"Our effort is to repair the damaged infrastructure and restore road and power connectivity at the earliest," Dhami said while highlighting that 85 per cent of the damaged power lines have been restored and the rest will also be done in a day or two," he said.
"I have spoken to the BRO DG. The Narendra Nagar-Tehri road will also be repaired soon," Dhami said while pointing out that about 1,000 stranded people have been rescued.
More than 10 roads and bridges were damaged in the calamity, at least five of them very badly, in which entire stretches were washed out, Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman said.
Areas that suffered maximum damage included Sahastradhara, Premnagar, Mussoorie, Narendra Nagar, Pauri, Pithoragarh and Nainital.&nbsp;

Cloudbursts and heavy rains overnight left a trail of destruction in Uttarakhand's capital Dehradun and its neighbouring areas on Tuesday, sweeping away at least five people and leaving more than 500 stranded in different locations.
Sahastradhara, Maldevta, Santla Devi and Dalanwala were the worst-hit by the disaster, according to the district disaster management office here. Sahastradhara received 192 mm of rain, followed by Maldevta (141.5 mm), Hathi Barkala and Jolly Grant (92.5mm each) and Kalsi (83.5 mm).
Several roads, houses and shops were damaged while a bridge was washed away. Five people were swept away by the torrential waters in different parts of the city, and 584 have been left stranded, it said.
Most rivers were in spate following the showers. The Tamsa river, on the banks of which the famous Tapkeshwar temple is located, is flowing very close to the danger mark. The Ganga and the Yamuna are flowing close to the warning level.
The Tamsa swelled rapidly in the morning, inundating the temple and submerging the gigantic Hanuman statue near its entrance up to the shoulders. The temple's priest, Bipin Joshi, said that he has not seen the river waters rise so high in the past 25 to 30 years.
Luckily, there were few devotees within the temple premises in the early morning hours when the inundation occurred, he said, adding that the priests staying at the temple are safe.
Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman said teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations in the affected areas, while 300 to 400 people have already been moved to safety.
About 200 children trapped by waterlogging at the Devbhoomi Institute campus in Paundha area of Dehradun were rescued by an SDRF team, said Banshidhar Tiwari, Director General, Information.
Waterlogging in Tehri left people stranded at Geeta Bhawan, he said, adding that they were later rescued. Also, a road in Nainital has been blocked by debris brought by a landslide triggered by heavy rain, he said.
Residents of Majhara village were on the road, having survived what they called a landslide that hit their dwellings early in the morning. They claimed that some people have gone missing.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the rain-affected areas of Dehradun district to review the situation on the ground. Local MLAs and senior officials accompanied him.
Interacting with reporters in the rain-hit Maldevta area, he said, "All rivers are in spate following heavy rains. Roads have been breached at 25 to 30 places. Approach roads are cut off. Houses and government properties have been damaged. Normal life is severely affected. Rescue teams are working on a war footing to restore normalcy." "The state government stands with every affected family. The administration is already on alert mode, and the NDRF, SDRF, police and local administration are active," he said.
The chief minister's office, in a social media post in Hindi, said Dhami has briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the situation in Uttarakhand following heavy showers.
They assured the state of all possible help and asserted that the Union government stands firmly with the people of Uttarakhand in this hour of crisis, according to the CMO.
Heavy rains caused the Song River to swell, flooding nearby areas.
Speaking to PTI Videos earlier in the day, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sadar, Hari Giri, said, "The water level is rising, and the flow is very strong right now. No deaths have been reported so far. Tourists were staying in the hotels." The river endangered a bridge in Maldevta, prompting the administration to respond quickly and work in coordination to restore normalcy.
Waterlogging has been reported in Dehradun's IT Park area, with water entering many offices, leaving people stranded.
"I have been stranded here since 5:30am. There is a lot of water. The car here has been stuck since last night and is submerged. Water has entered offices and basements," said Hrithik Sharma, a local.
Dhami inspected the Maldevta and Kesarwala areas of Dehradun district, hit hard by heavy rains, and took stock of the situation. He directed officials to speed up relief and rescue operations and assured the locals of all assistance.
The blocked routes should be opened at the earliest, and supply of safe drinking water and electricity should be ensured immediately, the chief minister stressed.

A landslide struck the Mansa Devi hills near the Har Ki Pauri here on Monday, obstructing the Haridwar-Dehradun rail route, an official said.
Boulders from the Mansa Devi hill fell on the railway track in Bhimgoda near Kali temple blocking the Haridwar-Dehradun Rishikesh railway route, Government Railway Police (GRP) Superintendent of Police Aruna Bharti said.
The railway track near Bhimgoda railway tunnel was completely closed due to the debris affecting movement of more than a dozen trains, including the Vande Bharat Express, she said.
A Shiva temple built near the railway track also collapsed under the impact of the landslide, Circle Officer Swapnil Suyal said.
The Mansa Devi hills are cracking once again due to heavy rains in Haridwar. The railway track was obstructed due to a landslide from the hill at the same place a few days ago.
A huge iron net has been installed between the hill and the railway track. But despite this, big pieces of stones broke the net and fell on the track.
The railway team has reached the spot and the work of removing debris from the track has been started.
Movement of trains on the route, including the Vande Bharat Express, has been suspended for the time being as the debris clearance is likely to take 8-10 hours, the official said.
The damaged net is being cut with the help of gas cutter and stones are being removed from the track with the help of JCB.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced a revision in dearness allowance (DA) for employees of public bodies and undertakings, along with fresh approvals for several development projects across the state.
The revision, which will come into effect from January 1, 2025, increases DA from 455 percent to 466 percent for employees drawing salaries under the fifth pay scale, and from 246 percent to 252 percent for those under the sixth pay scale. Confirming the decision, the Chief Minister&rsquo;s office said, &ldquo;Approved the increase in the current rate of dearness allowance from 455 percent to 466 percent from January 01, 2025 for the employees of public bodies undertakings drawing salary in the fifth central pay scale and the increase in the current rate of dearness allowance from 246 percent to 252 percent from January 01, 2025 for the employees of public bodies or undertakings drawing salary in the sixth central pay scale.&rdquo;
In addition to the DA hike, the government has cleared major allocations for infrastructure and development. The Chief Minister sanctioned ₹417.72 lakh for additional residential buildings at the under-construction District Jail in Pithoragarh and ₹251.49 lakh for new residential buildings at the Sub Jail in Roorkee. For the Dharchula assembly constituency of Pithoragarh district, he approved ₹95.49 lakh for the construction of a check dam at Kilatam under Ralam, releasing ₹57.294 lakh&mdash;60 percent of the sanctioned amount&mdash;as the first installment.
Development funds have also been earmarked for Champawat district, where ₹81.50 lakh has been approved for the beautification of Hanuman Mandir Mela Sthal in Ladhauli, Aadi Mela Sthal in Kalukhan, and Footling Kalukhan. Out of the total, ₹48.90 lakh has been sanctioned as the first installment.
Emphasizing his government&rsquo;s commitment to welfare and employment, Dhami reaffirmed support for ex-servicemen and Agniveers. &ldquo;It is our responsibility to give them respect and employment opportunities. This decision is a concrete step towards securing the future of retired Agniveers. Our government is trying to provide employment to ex-servicemen and Agniveers in every way,&rdquo; he said.

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami highlighted the state&rsquo;s potential as a year-round natural healing and wellness destination, promoting winter tourism, adventure, culture, and responsible tourism initiatives.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Wednesday that, given the problems of pollution, rising temperatures, traffic, and stress in the country's major cities, Uttarakhand has a good potential to become a 'natural healing destination' for the country.
Dhami inaugurated the three-day 'Winter Tourism Conclave' organised in Uttarkashi, promoting the winter Char Dham pilgrimage and tourism activities. He said, "Today, the major cities of the country are grappling with pollution, rising temperatures, traffic, and stress. In such a situation, Uttarakhand can become a 'natural healing destination' for the country."
He said that the government is continuously working in this direction. Dhami said that Uttarakhand is now not limited to only the Char Dham pilgrimage but is also moving towards becoming a major centre for wellness, nature, adventure tourism, culture, yoga, meditation, and sustainable tourism.
The chief minister, emphasising the crucial role of tour operators, said that creating trends and branding a destination is in their hands. He said that the time has come to make Uttarakhand a 12-month tourism state, not just a four or six-month one.
Dhami said, "The objective of the government's winter tourism policy is to ensure that the mountains do not remain empty, hotels do not close, taxis do not remain idle, homestays do not remain deserted, and young people do not have to migrate for employment. When tourism remains active for 12 months, the economic condition of the state will also improve significantly."
The chief minister assured all stakeholders associated with the tourism sector of cooperation at every level and said that the single-window system, digital approvals, and quick assistance system for investors are being further strengthened through the tourism department.
Dhami emphasised 'responsible tourism' with a focus on the environment and culture, and told tour operators, "Include Uttarkashi, Harsil, Mukhba, Nelang, Chamoli, Auli, Munsiyari, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Tehri, Pauri, Rudraprayag, and border villages in your tourism packages. Create the packages, and the government will stand with you."
The conclave was attended by tour operators from various states of the country, in addition to those from the state level, as well as local hotel associations and trekking organisations.
The chief minister also inaugurated the week-long historic Magh Mela of Uttarkashi.

Chamoli District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar said that the accident occurred around 8.30 pm on Tuesday at the TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) site inside the tunnel being built by THDC (India).
A loco train carrying workers for tunnel excavation during the night shift was about two kilometres inside the tunnel when another loco train coming from the opposite direction lost control and collided with it.
DM Gaurav Kumar and Superintendent of Police Surjit Singh Panwar met the injured at the Gopeshwar District Hospital.
Kumar said 109 people were on board the loco train at the time of the accident, most of them labourers. None of the injured was serious, he said.
He said 70 labourers were brought to the district hospital in Gopeshwar, of whom 66 were given discharge after first aid, while four are still under treatment.
Eighteen labourers were given first aid at the Vivekananda Hospital in Pipalkoti and were sent home.
Meanwhile, the Railways said the trains involved in the collision had no connection with it.
"It is clarified that this unfortunate incident occurred in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, involving a trolley used in the local transportation system during the construction of a hydroelectric project tunnel. The train referred to in the news reports is not an Indian Railways train, but a transportation system being used locally by the project team," the government entity said in a statement.
According to officials, rail-like vehicles are used to transport workers, employees, and materials for construction work inside the tunnel.
The project, being built between Helang and Pipalkoti on the Alaknanda River, will generate 444 megawatts of electricity through four turbines.
The project is targeted for completion by next year.

The accident occurred in the Bhikiyasain area when the bus was en route to Ramnagar in Nainital from Dwarahat in Almora, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Devendra Pincha said.
According to the SSP, 18 to 19 passengers were on board when the driver lost control of the vehicle, and it fell into a gorge, six kilometres ahead of Bhikiyasain.
Upon receiving information about the accident, the police, along with State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams, reached the spot and launched rescue and relief operations, he said.
Six people died on the spot in the accident, while another succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital, the officer added.
SSP Pincha said 12 people, including the driver, were injured in the accident and rescued from the gorge. The injured were admitted to the hospital.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief over the loss of lives in the accident.
In a Facebook post in Hindi, Dhami said, &ldquo;I pray to God for the speedy recovery of all the injured. The entire incident is being continuously monitored, and I am in constant contact with the local administrative officials.&rdquo;
&ldquo;I pray to God for the peace of the departed souls and strength to their grieving families to bear this immense loss,&rdquo; he added.
The chief minister in his post also said that the injured passengers have been admitted to nearby hospitals by the district administration, and those seriously injured have been referred to higher medical centres for better treatment.

According to the statement by the chief electoral officer&rsquo;s office, the exercise includes preparatory work for the upcoming SIR. A campaign is also underway to "reach out, coordinate, and communicate with every voter" to ensure smooth coordination with voters.
Chief Electoral Officer B V R C Purushottam said the last SIR was undertaken in 2003.During the pre-SIR phase, voters aged 40 and above whose names appeared on the 2003 list will be verified through the Booth Level Officer (BLO) app, he said. Those in the same age group whose names were not on the 2003 list will be verified using the details of their parents or grandparents, he added.
The officer further said the 2003 rolls are available on the Chief Electoral Officer&rsquo;s and Election Commission websites.
Purushottam also asked recognised national parties to verify their voter lists and appoint booth level agents (BLAs). At present, 4,155 BLAs have been appointed against 11,733 booths, he said.
District Magistrates, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and BLOs have been directed to strengthen voter outreach efforts, while help desks are being set up at district and ERO levels for assistance, the statement added.&nbsp;

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday announced the formation of a high-level commission for the revival and development of Sanskrit.
Addressing the two-day International Sanskrit Conference in Haridwar, Dhami said that roots of many languages around the world are linked to Sanskrit and all the ancient texts -- Vedas, Puranas and Upanishads -- were in Sanskrit, which enriched India's ideological heritage.
Pointing to the growing interest among European scholars in the Sanskrit literature of 18th and 19th centuries, he said that ancient universities such as Takshashila, Nalanda, Vikramshila and Vallabhi used to disseminate Sanskrit-based knowledge to the world.
Great scholars such as Charaka, Sushruta, Aryabhatta, Bhaskaracharya, Chanakya, Brahmagupta and Panini were born in India, the chief minister said, adding that "it is our duty to enrich Sanskrit in the holy land of Uttarakhand, which gave birth to the Vedas and the knowledge of sages."
Dhami said Uttarakhand has recognised Sanskrit as its second official language and the state government is continuously making efforts to promote Sanskrit education in schools.
He said the state government has resolved to establish Adarsh Sanskrit Gram in every district and efforts are on to increase government assistance in research and employment opportunities for Sanskrit students.
Dhami recollected that he studied Sanskrit till Class 9 and the verses, grammar and sweetness of the language are still alive in his memory.
In the new education policy, special emphasis has been laid on establishing Sanskrit as a modern and practical language, he said.
