CM Yogi stresses duty to meet public needs

CM Adityanath advocates for tailored civic amenities, emphasizing safety, environmental initiatives, and urban development in Gorakhpur.

CM Yogi stresses duty to meet public needs

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized on Friday the duty of a popular government to offer infrastructure and amenities suited to the needs of a civilized society. By customizing services for various income groups, the government can simplify citizens' lives, he stated. The Chief Minister was speaking at the inauguration of the city's second Kalyan Mandapam in Surajkund Colony, a project by the municipal corporation costing Rs 4.52 crore and spanning over 35,500 square feet. Adityanath noted that Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation is pioneering this initiative in Uttar Pradesh, providing community halls for weddings and other events aimed at benefiting lower and middle-income groups. He pointed out that these well-equipped venues, accessible for Rs 11,000 to Rs 25,000, make ceremonial events affordable and dignified. Additionally, five more Kalyan Mandapams are being built in the city. Informing the public, he mentioned having allocated the entire amount from his MLA fund for these constructions, hoping Gorakhpur would set an example for other municipalities. Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Smart City vision, Adityanath emphasized evolving it into a "Safe City" model. Creating safe cities for women, traders, children, and every citizen requires robust systems to deter those who might disrupt peace, he added. He also urged citizens to install security cameras to enhance safety. Emphasizing communal responsibility in maintaining cleanliness and environmental protection, he called upon councillors to establish 'mohalla committees' to manage sanitation and environmental tasks like tree plantation. Prime Minister Modi has prioritized cleanliness, making it a national duty, Adityanath asserted. Addressing climate change impacts, the CM urged reverting to nature for solutions, citing instances of extreme weather. Supporting PM Modi's call to plant a tree in honor of one's mother, he proposed plantation drives along riverbanks to protect catchment areas. "Rivers are like arteries of the nation's body. If they vanish, water crises arise," he remarked, citing the revival of the Gaurdhoiya stream. Adityanath also announced a significant tree plantation drive aiming to plant 35 crore trees, with 50 crore saplings ready. The CM declared that the new 75-bed working women's hostel under construction by the Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation would be named after Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar. This dedication celebrates her contributions to women's empowerment and restoration of historic temples, aligning with her 300th birth anniversary. Showcasing Gorakhpur's development, Adityanath discussed enhancements in road connectivity, including four-lane highways and inner-city ring roads. He detailed various municipal projects: integrated waste management at Suthni, multi-level parking at Bandhu Singh Park, a food street in Indira Bal Vihar, and the beautification of Ghantaghar and Laldiggi Park, as well as a commercial complex in TP Nagar and the Kanha Upvan shelter in Tal Nador. These initiatives aim to elevate the urban living experience. Calling for sensitivity and vigilance in development processes, the CM encouraged celebrating International Yoga Day on June 21 with grand events in every ward. "Yoga assures good health, given global recognition by PM Modi," he said. He also suggested planting a tree in mothers’ names on June 23, marking Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee's death anniversary, advocating for 'One Nation, One Law.' Earlier, Adityanath inaugurated the Kalyan Mandapam, inspecting its facilities and services, and honored 10 municipal employees on stage for their exemplary performance with certificates and gifts.
