UP government to launch summer camps for holistic development of school children

Children in Uttar Pradesh’s Parishad schools will soon have the chance to engage in learning through fun activities and participate in extracurricular programs during the summer holidays.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Basic Education Department has started preparations for this initiative.

According to an official release, summer camps will be organized in various schools from May 20 to June 15, where children will take part in studies, sports, skill-building, and creative activities. As per CM Yogi's directive, these camps will be held in the mornings for one and a half hours, focusing on interactive and engaging activities for children's overall development.

The camps will be conducted under the supervision of education professionals, instructors, and teachers, with support from NGOs and graduate volunteers. Additionally, children attending the camps will be provided with food, including nutritious items such as jaggery chikki, millet laddoos, ramdana laddoos, jaggery, and chickpeas, to promote their physical and mental well-being while encouraging learning.

The summer camps will cover foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN), along with life skills, personality development, yoga, sports, science experiments, arts and cultural programs, and environmental awareness. This initiative aims to provide children with a new direction and enhance their hidden talents. The Uttar Pradesh government has allocated ₹200 crore for this ambitious plan, which is expected to contribute significantly to children's educational and personal development.

Earlier, on Monday, CM Yogi marked eight years of his government and emphasized Uttar Pradesh’s economic progress while speaking at a program celebrating the milestone.

Highlighting the state's transformation, he said, "UP was considered among the BIMARU states 8 years ago, people only knew it as a labour-power, today it has emerged as the growth engine of the nation's economic development..."
