PM Modi highlights Uttar Pradesh's cultural and environmental achievements in 'Mann Ki Baat'

In the 124th episode of his monthly radio address Mann Ki Baat broadcast on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned the spotlight on Uttar Pradesh, appreciating both its cultural legacy and grassroots environmental initiatives.

During his address, the Prime Minister lauded the historical importance of Kalinjar Fort in Banda district, describing it as a “living embodiment of India’s values, culture, and self-respect.” Referring to the fort’s resilience, he recalled its legendary stand against Mahmud Ghaznavi and said it played a significant role in India’s history.

Modi further encouraged citizens to explore other historic sites in the Bundelkhand region, including the forts of Jhansi, Gwalior, Datia, Ajaygarh, and Garhkundar. He urged the public to visit these monuments and celebrate the country’s rich heritage.

In addition to highlighting cultural landmarks, the Prime Minister commended the efforts of environmental volunteers in the state. He made special mention of Lucknow’s Gomti Nadi Swachhata Team, which has been cleaning the Gomti River every Sunday for the past ten years. “Their unwavering commitment is truly inspiring,” he said.

The Prime Minister’s remarks come as the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government intensifies its focus on heritage conservation and environmental revival. The state’s Tourism Department has undertaken significant restoration work on major forts, including Kalinjar, aiming to transform them into key tourism destinations. Simultaneously, a statewide river rejuvenation drive is underway, involving the revival of minor rivers and extensive plantation efforts along their banks.

The Prime Minister’s address is being seen as an endorsement of the state government’s efforts to integrate tourism, environmental sustainability, and cultural preservation. With the 2027 Assembly elections approaching, the recognition is also being interpreted as a boost to regional pride and identity.
