The victim, Saraswati Vaidya, was in a live-in relationship with a man, identified as Manoj Sahani (56), and the couple has been residing in the flat since the last three years, a senior official at the Naya Nagar police station said.
Police were alerted by local residents who complained of a foul smell emanating from the flat, he said.
A team rushed to the spot and found the decomposed body of the woman which was cut into several pieces, said the official.
He said police have taken into custody two suspects and they are being interrogated.
The official did not reveal the identity of the suspects or a possible motive behind the murder.
A probe was underway.

The 15-year-old boy, Ramananda Paswan, who was recuperating in the ICU of a hospital in Cuttack, saw his parents on a news channel and alerted the staff.&nbsp;
The hospital then facilitated the reunion of the boy with his parents who had come from Nepal to search for him.&nbsp;
&ldquo;I am happy to find my son. He was travelling with three of our relatives. All of them were killed in the accident. He, however, miraculously escaped with injuries,&rdquo; said the boy&rsquo;s father Hari Paswan.
After coming to Bhubaneswar, Hari and his wife were visiting one hospital after another in search of their son.
While in AIIMS Bhubaneswar, they came across a journalist of a local TV news channel who reported their ordeal.
Ramananda saw the report on the television in his room and identified his parents. He informed the hospital authorities about it.
&ldquo;The hospital called up the TV channel&rsquo;s office, got the videos and showed them to Ramananda to reconfirm if they were indeed his parents. Following this, the hospital authorities were successful in connecting Ramanada with his parents,&rdquo; SCB Medical College Emergency Officer Dr BN Moharana told PTI.
"Emotional moment for us that a 15-year-old boy from Nepal Ramanand Paswan who was a victim of Baleswar Train tragedy got his parents miraculously," the hospital tweeted.
The Coromandel Express crashed into a stationary goods train, derailing most of its coaches at 7 pm on June 2. A few of those toppled over the last few coaches of the Bengaluru-Howrah Express which was passing by at the same time.
In all, 288 people died in the accident and more than 1,200 were injured.&nbsp;

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has ensured the protesting wrestlers that a chargesheet will be filed against BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh by June 15. The government asked them to not hold any protest rallies till police completes its probe into sexual harassment allegations against Former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh by June 15.
The wrestlers, after a nearly five-hour meeting with Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, said the government has also assured them that the police will withdraw the FIRs filed against them.
The wrestlers were booked for violation of law and order on May 28 when they marched towards the new Parliament building without permission to hold 'Mahila Samman Mahapachayat'.
The meeting was attended by Olympic medallists Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, her husband Satyawart Kadiyan and Jitender Kinha.
"We were told that police investigation will be complete by June 15. Till then, we have been asked to wait and suspend the protest," Sakshi Malik told reporters after the meeting.
"The Delhi police will also withdraw the FIRs filed against the wrestlers lodged on May 28," she added.
Both Malik and Punia asserted that their agitation was not yet over and they have suspended their protest only till June 15 as requested by the government.
Later addressing a press conference, Thakur said the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections be held by June 30.
The crucial meeting was called by Thakur to break the deadlock.

Gitanjali Datta of Maniabanda in Cuttack district had claimed that her husband Bijay Datta had died in the accident on June 2 and had even identified a body as her husband's. However, after verification of documents, it was found that her claim was false.
Though police let her go with a warning, trouble started after her husband filed a complaint at Maniabandha police station. The woman has now gone into hiding fearing arrest, police said.
Police said the couple has been living separately for the last 13 years.
Bijay has demanded stringent action against Gitanjali for attempting to grab public money and also faking his death.
Maniabanda police station in-charge Basant Kumar Satpathy said police have asked Gitanjali&rsquo;s husband to lodge a complaint at Bahanaga police station in Balasore district as the incident took place there.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary PK Jena asked the Railways and Odisha police to take stringent action against people making fake claimants over bodies.
Earlier, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced Rs 5 lakh ex gratia for the next of kin of the deceased while Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh. On the other hand, the Railway Ministry has declared Rs 10 lakh compensation for the families of those who died in the accident.

&nbsp;The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday said it has made the "largest-ever" single operation seizure of about 15,000 LSD blots in the country and arrested six people after it busted an international drugs trafficking network operating on the darknet.
The seizure, as per officials, is estimated to be worth over Rs 10 crore in the international market (about Rs 5K-7K per blot) and all the six who have been taken into custody, beginning late last month, are students and youngsters who wanted to make "easy money" by remaining anonymous within the deep layers of secret internet-based apps and messenger service like WICKR.
Possession of 0.1 gram of LSD (about six blots), which is the commercial quantity for the hallucinogenic drug, invites strict legal action under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, leading to a denial of bail and rigorous imprisonment in jail for the person who trades or consumes it, an NCB officer said.
NCB's deputy DG Singh said the latest seizure of about 15,000 LSD blots is 2,500 times of the commercial quantity.
He said the LSD seized by them was sourced from Poland and the Netherlands and this syndicate was trafficking it across various states by taking payments through cryptocurrency and UPI, and the contraband was shipped through couriers and postal networks.
The NCB, the officials said, is trying to freeze the crypto funds too. &nbsp;"The suppliers and consumers intercepted by us had no personal interaction and every contact was on the darknet," Singh said.
He said the operation was undertaken by a special team of the Delhi zonal unit of the federal anti-narcotics agency after they "patrolled" the darknet for many hours.
Darknet refers to the deep hidden internet platform that is used for narcotics sale, exchange of pornographic content and other illegal activities by using the secret alleys of the onion router (ToR) to stay away from the surveillance of law enforcement agencies. &nbsp;Apart from the LSD blots, 2.32 kgs of ganja and Rs 4.65 lakh cash have been seized while bank deposits worth Rs 20 lakh have been frozen, the deputy DG said.
NCB zonal director (Delhi) Gyanendra Kumar Singh said those arrested are mostly educated and are young.
"One is a student who is from Goa but enrolled at a private university in Noida, another is a Delhi boy who was trying to send some of these blots to Kashmir and a girl who has been arrested from the NCR," the zonal director said.
A supplier based in Jaipur and a man from Kerala have also been arrested, he said.

The seizure, as per officials, is estimated to be worth over Rs 10 crore in the international market (about Rs 5K-7K per blot) and all the six who have been taken into custody, beginning late last month, are students and youngsters who wanted to make "easy money" by remaining anonymous within the deep layers of secret internet-based apps and messenger service like WICKR.
LSD or lysergic acid diethylamide is a synthetic chemical based-drug and is categorised as a hallucinogen. It is trafficked by painting it on blots, half the size of a stamp paper, and is consumed by licking or swallowing.
"This is the "largest-ever" seizure of LSD blots in the country in a single operation. Six youngsters have been arrested till now and we are on the trail of one more such cartel," NCB deputy director general (northern region) Gyaneshwar Singh told reporters here.
Those arrested are in the age group of 25-28 years, the officials said.
A total of 14,961 blots were seized as part of the about two-week long operation and the blots are of "gammagoblin and holy spirit of asura" brand, Singh said.
The deputy DG further said that till now, the highest seizure of LSD was 5,000 blots by the Karnataka Police during the entire span of 2021 and about a similar amount of blots by the Kolkata NCB in 2022 in a single operation. &nbsp;LSD abuse is largely prevalent among youngsters and it can lead to serious health issues, Singh said.

Built-in the late 19th century, the school has been restored in an old architectural style by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

A heritage school in Gujarat's Vadnagar where Prime Minister Narendra Modi had his initial education has been restored and is being redeveloped under project 'Prerna' to serve as a centre of inspiration for children through an immersive experience, top government sources said on Tuesday.
Built-in the late 19th century, the school has been restored in an old architectural style by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
Based on the vision of the prime minister, this "first-of-its-kind" school redevelopment project 'Prerna: The Vernacular School' is being undertaken to inspire the youth of the county to become catalysts of change, the sources said.
The architectural revival and redevelopment of the old school are part of a holistic and mega redevelopment plan for the historic city of Vadnagar that traces an uninterrupted continuum of human habitation for more than 2500 years, they said.
"The programme is expected to be rolled out later this year. Two students from each district of the country will take part in the programme which will be conducted in a series of batches. Each batch will have 30 students, covering 15 districts, and in 50 weeks, all 750 districts will be covered spanning 1,500 students in total," a source said.
This "experiential school" will offer a "unique pedagogy" and use both unconventional and tech-based means to impart values and inspire children to become catalysts of change in future, the source said.
"It is envisioned to be a school of the future and to give an impetus to education and values. It will be a residential programme and the central government will bear all the necessary expenses on each child who will be part of 'Prerna'," the source said.
The primary objective of this initiative is to inspire Indians across all the districts, starting from Vadnagar, and see, if can be replicated, perhaps in other parts of the country, the source said.
The aim of this project is to empower individual thought and self-identity, build a feeling of pride and duty towards the country, instil a sense of initiative, invoke a feeling of unity and respect for the diversity of land, people and ideologies, and promote the spirit of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', the source said.
"Children will take part in sessions on valour and compassion, among other topics. They will learn about valour through the stories of 21 Param Vir Chakra winners and about compassion from the life and legacy of Lord Buddha, Lord Mahavira, Emperor Ashoka and Mahatma Gandhi, among others. Speeches of prominent leaders like Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Jawaharlal Nehru will be told to the children through holograms," the source said.
On the late 19th-century building of the school, the source said work on its restoration began in 2018.
"The old building has been restored using vernacular elements of architecture and it by imagining the way the structure may have looked originally," the source said.
The criteria of selection and other modalities are currently being worked out, the source said, adding, children from all kinds of schools will be eligible to be part of the initiative.
About 100 km from Ahmedabad, Vadnagar in Mehsana district of Gujarat, is a historic town with a population of approximately 28,000.
In December 2022, ASI officials had said that Vadnagar town and the iconic Sun Temple at Modhera in Gujarat, and the rock-cut relief sculptures of Unakoti in Tripura, were added to the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
"This listing on the tentative list of UNESCO heritage sites will give a boost to tourism in Vadnagar and further in Gujarat," the source said.
