Supreme Court Concerned About Young Lawyers' Court Craft Skills

New Delhi, June 11 (PTI) The Supreme Court expressed concern that the current generation of lawyers is seemingly uninterested in mastering "court craft," a crucial component of legal practice, during a session on Wednesday.

A bench composed of Justices S V N Bhatti and P B Varale made this observation after witnessing a young lawyer nonchalantly walk away while an order was being dictated.

When the case was called, the lawyer mentioned that a letter had been circulated seeking an adjournment. However, as the bench began dictating the order, she began to leave the courtroom.

This action prompted the bench to remark, "The young generation does not want to learn the court craft. Reading cases is only 30 percent; the remaining 70 percent is court craft."
