Attacks have been attempted on him one after the other. In October (last year), an attack was made on Kejriwal. Upon investigation by us, it was found that the attackers were BJP workers, but police took no action," Atishi alleged.</p>

In Burari, a truck carrying 3,036 bottles of Haryana-marked liquor was seized after a 14-kilometre chase. Another mini-truck with 1,812 bottles was intercepted in Mahipalpur.</p>
<p>The department is also ensuring compliance with Election Commission directives, including intensified inspections of liquor warehouses and restrictions on coupon-based bookings at hotels, clubs, and bars. Both February 5 (voting day) and February 8 (counting day) have been declared "dry days" in Delhi.</p>

<p>The Punjab Backward Classes Land Development and Finance Corporation (BACKFINCO) is organizing awareness camps across various districts to ensure that the people belonging to backward classes, economically weaker sections and minority communities can avail maximum benefits from the welfare schemes being run for them.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Sandeep Saini, Chairman of Punjab Backward Classes Land Development and Finance Corporation (BACKFINCO), stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and the guidance of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, every possible effort is being made for the welfare of the backward classes and minority communities in Punjab.</p>
<p>Chairman Sandeep Saini further explained that BACKFINCO is providing loans at low-interest rates under self-employment schemes to uplift the economic status of &nbsp;backward classes, economically weaker sections and minority communities. Financial assistance is being provided through schemes such as the Direct Loan Scheme, NBC Scheme and NMD Scheme, which are being implemented with the support of national corporations such as NBCFDC and NMDFC. Under these schemes, loans are directly transferred to the beneficiaries' bank accounts upon approval.</p>
<p>He informed that awareness camps have already been conducted in districts Sri Muktsar Sahib, Hoshiarpur, Ropar, Amritsar and SAS Nagar. Additionally, camps will be organized in Ludhiana on January 24, Patiala on January 29, Ferozepur on January 30, Sangrur on January 31, and Bathinda on February 7. &nbsp;</p>
<p>Chairman Saini urged people from backward classes and minority communities to participate in these camps and take full advantage of the welfare schemes being implemented by the Punjab government.</p>

<p>India has strongly criticized Pakistan for its support of terrorism, emphasizing that the global community is well aware of the country&rsquo;s role as a promoter of cross-border terrorism.</p>
<p>During a press briefing on Friday, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted that nations responsible for such activities are widely recognized and urged Pakistan to take decisive measures to curb cross-border terrorism.</p>
<p>Addressing a query regarding Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement accusing the Indian Army of being politicized, following remarks by Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi linking terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan, Jaiswal remarked, "The whole world knows, who is promoting terrorism. In India, when we have terror-related attacks, where it is coming from, we all know the genesis, the root of cross-border terrorism. So, in this context, when the whole world knows who is the progenitor of cross-border terrorism, to say that we are trying to politicize something etc is totally immaterial. Everyone knows that there are people, there are countries who are responsible for cross-border terrorism and we call upon Pakistan to take strict action to stop cross-border terrorism."</p>
<p>The ISPR issued its statement following General Dwivedi&rsquo;s assertion that Pakistan is the epicenter of terrorism, noting that 80% of terrorists operating in Jammu and Kashmir originate from Pakistan.&nbsp;</p>
<p>During the annual Army Day press conference on January 13, General Dwivedi attributed the violence in Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan, stating that it continues to orchestrate terror activities.</p>
<p>"If the support is not forthcoming the way India is looking at it, this kind of terrorist infiltration will continue to be there," he explained. He also noted the positive impact of elections in the region, with nearly 60% voter turnout in both parliamentary and assembly elections. "It means that the local population is going with the peace. People of Jammu and Kashmir are shunning violence, and violence is being orchestrated by our Western adversary Pakistan," he said.</p>
<p>As a former Northern Army Commander experienced in counter-terrorism operations, General Dwivedi revealed that 15,000 additional troops were inducted in 2024, leading to a significant reduction in violence. "We have been able to neutralize 73 terrorists out of which 60% were Pakistan terrorists," he stated.</p>

<p>A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court seeking directives to ensure Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports are made publicly accessible ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.</p>
<p>The petitioner, Brij Mohan, a retired Senior Administrative Grade officer of the Indian Audit &amp; Accounts Department (IA&amp;AD), urged the Central Government, Lt. Governor, and the CAG to publish these reports on government portals, enabling voters to assess Delhi&rsquo;s financial health.</p>
<p>Citing Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution, the plea argued that withholding CAG reports violates the electorate&rsquo;s fundamental &ldquo;right to know&rdquo; and termed it a &ldquo;fraud on the Constitution.&rdquo; It emphasised the CAG's pivotal role in ensuring transparency and accountability, especially during elections.</p>
<p>The Delhi High Court has sought clarification from the CAG, questioning why these reports cannot be released before being tabled in the assembly. The petitioner further argued that even if the assembly session is not convened, the reports should still be accessible to voters to support informed decision-making.</p>
<p>The petition highlighted the importance of transparency in upholding democratic values, stating that any delay in releasing the reports undermines the electorate&rsquo;s right to information and the constitutional mandate.</p>
<p>The court has scheduled the next hearing for January 24.</p>
<p>In a separate plea by LoP Vijender Gupta and six BJP MLAs, the High Court earlier criticised the Delhi government over delays in presenting CAG reports, calling the situation &ldquo;unfortunate.&rdquo;</p>

He added that 11 gangster groups have divided Delhi into territories, extorting money and spreading fear.</p>
<p>Kejriwal, taking a dig at Adityanath, said, "If Yogi ji claims to have fixed UP's law and order and eliminated gangsters, he should sit with Amit Shah and guide him on how to end the 'gangster raj' in Delhi."</p>

<p>A dispute over alleged inadequate medical services turned violent at a super-speciality hospital in Bardhaman, West Bengal, on Thursday night, leaving five police personnel injured.</p>
<p>The incident began when a young man from Swetipalli in Shaktigarh, Purba Bardhaman, was admitted to the hospital with a leg injury. Dissatisfied with the treatment, some of the patient&rsquo;s family members and friends engaged in a heated argument with hospital authorities, which soon escalated into chaos.</p>
<p>According to hospital superintendent Shakuntala Sarkar, the situation took a violent turn when a group attacked police officers, doctors, and hospital staff. &ldquo;The on-duty police officers tried to defuse the situation, but the group turned aggressive. They assaulted police personnel, dragged and beat doctors and staff, and partially vandalised hospital property,&rdquo; Sarkar stated.</p>
<p>Five police officers were injured in the altercation, with one admitted to the hospital for treatment and the others discharged after first aid, officials said.</p>
<p>A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, though its authenticity could not be confirmed.</p>
<p>Senior officers from Shaktigarh police station rushed to the scene and managed to bring the situation under control. By Friday morning, six individuals were detained in connection with the violence, police confirmed.</p>
<p>Investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the unrest, with authorities vowing strict action against those involved. The hospital, meanwhile, has ramped up security to prevent further incidents.</p>

Ahead of Delhi Assembly elections, over 19,000 individuals were arrested and major illegal materials were seized, including drugs, firearms, and cash. Authorities enforce strict measures for a fair voting process starting February 5.

In preparation for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, a major crackdown led to the arrest of over 19,000 individuals with significant seizures of illegal materials, reflecting stringent enforcement to ensure election integrity.

<p>Delhi Police registered 570+ MCC violations ahead of the Feb 5 polls, seizing ₹5.29 crore cash, 284 firearms, 46,682L liquor, and drugs worth ₹20 crore. Over 19,000 arrests were made in a crackdown to ensure a fair election.</p>

<p>As Delhi gears up for the Assembly elections on February 5, more than 570 cases of alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) have been registered so far, according to officials. These cases were recorded between January 7, when the MCC came into effect, and January 23.</p>
<p>In an intensified pre-poll crackdown, Delhi Police has been vigilant at border checkpoints and ramped up operations against illegal activities. The efforts have resulted in the arrest of 19,065 individuals under various legal provisions, including those under the Excise Act.</p>
<p>Significant seizures have been made during this period, reflecting the scale of illicit activities thwarted. Police confiscated 284 illegal firearms, 394 cartridges, and seized over 46,682 litres of liquor valued at more than ₹1.3 crore. Additionally, 119.51 kg of drugs worth over ₹20 crore and more than 1,200 banned injections were recovered.</p>
<p>Law-enforcement agencies also seized cash amounting to ₹5.29 crore and 37.39 kg of silver, according to an official statement.</p>
<p>The heightened vigilance comes as voting for all 70 Assembly seats in Delhi is set to take place on February 5, with results scheduled to be announced on February 8. Authorities continue to maintain strict surveillance to ensure a free and fair election.</p>
<p>With polling day fast approaching, the Delhi Police is leaving no stone unturned in cracking down on violations and illegal activities that could disrupt the election process.</p>
