Rohini Court Bars Public from Wearing Advocate Attire Over Fraud Concerns

New Delhi, July 16 (PTI): The Rohini Court Bar Association has issued a directive barring clerks, litigants, and the general public from wearing white shirts and black pants when visiting the district court complex. This decision was made in response to complaints about touts impersonating advocates or clerks and deceiving litigants.

The notice, dated July 15, specifies, "No clerk, litigant, or member of the general public is allowed to wear a white shirt and black pants during visits to the court complex." This attire is "strictly reserved" for lawyers or advocates, symbolizing the professional identity and dignity of the legal fraternity. Previously, the bar association required clerks of advocates to obtain authorized identity cards to thwart fraud against litigants.

The executive committee of the RCBA, informed by numerous members of the bar as well as public complaints, identified several cases of touts falsely presenting themselves as official advocates or clerks. These individuals exploit and defraud unsuspecting litigants under deceitful pretenses, as highlighted in the prior notice.
