I apologise and take back my words: Nitish Kumar after row population control remarks

Bihar chief minister has apologised after the words used by him to highlight the role of educated women in population control were called 'derogatory' and 'offensive'.

'I apologise if my remarks hurt anyone and take back my words,' he told reporters on November 8.

The controversy erupted after Nitish Kumar spoke about population control in the Bihar assembly on November 7. He talked about how educated women are likely to dissuade their husbands from procreation.

However, objects were raised over the language used by him leading to demands for an apology.

While BJP called his remarks 'B grade' and 'double-meaning', his deputy Tejashwi Yadav defended it as 'sex education'
