BJP's '400-paar' slogan created misconceptions: Eknath Shinde

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has shared his opinion on possible causes behind BJP's subpar performance in Lok Sabha election. Shinde said that BJP's '400-paar' slogan coupled with Opposition's claim that the party wants to change the Constitution created misconceptions in the minds of people.

“We suffered losses in some places during the polls, because of the false narrative that was set… We suffered losses in Maharashtra. They set a false narrative that the constitution would be changed and reservation would be removed etc. But in fact, nothing of this sort was going to happen. The ‘400-paar’ slogan created misconceptions and raised apprehensions in the minds of people that in future it will create issues,” Shinde said at a meeting of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) in Mumbai, according to Indian Express.

Notably, the NDA won just 17 out of 48 seats in Maharashtra.
