Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav described Raksha Bandhan as more than just a festival—it is a sacred representation of the deep-rooted bond between brothers and sisters in Indian culture.
He emphasized that this festival strengthens social unity and family values, and also symbolizes women’s dignity and social security.
“A unique feature of Indian culture is that every relationship is defined and revered,” Dr. Yadav said. Referring to the story of Draupadi and Lord Krishna, he added, “It symbolizes the power of the Brother-Sister bond, where Lord Krishna fulfilled the pledge to protect Draupadi for life.”
At a state-level event held in Narsinghgarh, Rajgarh district on Thursday, Dr. Yadav transferred ₹1859 crore into the bank accounts of 1.26 crore Ladli Behna beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana.
He also released ₹43.90 crore in assistance under the Ujjwala Yojana, benefiting over 28 lakh women. The event began with traditional lamp lighting and Kanya Pujan.
Dr. Yadav highlighted the strength of Indian family traditions, saying, “Organizing the marriage of a niece is considered even more honorable than arranging a daughter’s marriage... The blessings and Rakhi from sisters bring strength. Brothers have always protected their sisters in Indian tradition—just as Lord Krishna protected Draupadi during the Mahabharata era.”
During the celebrations, a large Rakhi was presented to Dr. Yadav, and several sisters tied Rakhi on his wrist.
Addressing national security, the Chief Minister said, “Under the strong leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, terrorist incidents have ceased in the country. Through Operation Sindoor, the enemy has been eliminated... A brother protects the dignity of his sister’s sindoor without worrying about his life... This time, August 15 will be known as Operation Sindoor.”
He announced an increase in Ladli Behna benefits: from ₹1000 to ₹1250, with a special Rakhi bonus of ₹250, bringing the total to ₹1500 for August.
“After Diwali, every month ₹1500 will be provided... In the next three years, by 2028, ₹3000 will be credited to Ladli Behna's accounts,” he added. So far, ₹41,000 crore has been distributed to over 1.27 crore beneficiaries.
Dr. Yadav praised the resilience and affection of the state's women, recalling that “even amidst their pain,” flood-affected sisters in Guna-Shivpuri welcomed him with plates in hand. “Today in Narsinghgarh, too, the affection of sisters was seen in full expression,” he noted.
The Chief Minister also highlighted several support measures:
- ₹6000 annual aid for women working in employment-based industries
- ₹5000 aid for brothers
- Hostel facilities for working women
- 35% subsidy under the cow rearing scheme
- Initiatives to boost milk production and rural entrepreneurship

As part of the program, Dr. Yadav inaugurated the ‘Aakanksha Haat’, a four-day exhibition (Aug 7–10) to promote local artisans, self-help groups, and traditional products.
“Such events not only strengthen the ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign but also help in strengthening the rural economy,” he said.
The event showcased local crafts, food items, and initiatives aimed at women’s self-reliance and market connectivity.

Several Ladli Behna tied Rakhis to Dr. Yadav and expressed their heartfelt appreciation: “Our brother Dr. Mohan not only provided financial assistance but also filled our relationship with honor and affection.” A grand Rakhi was also gifted to him, and in return, Dr. Yadav presented swings to the sisters.
