MP CM Mohan Yadav assures full compensation for rain-hit families in Guna; reviews relief operations

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Monday visited the flood-affected areas of Guna district to review ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts.

He assured residents that all losses due to heavy rainfall and floods will be fully compensated.

"There is no need to worry — the government is with you," CM Yadav said during his visit, adding that a detailed survey will be conducted for each affected family and compensation will be directly transferred to beneficiaries through the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) system.

Dr. Yadav, accompanied by Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, interacted with residents in heavily impacted localities such as the Cantonment area and Patel Nagar. The leaders personally visited homes and listened to the concerns of flood-hit citizens.

The Chief Minister also stopped by Pawan Colony on New Tekri Road, where he assessed the extent of damage and spoke with affected families. Highlighting the intensity of the situation, he said, “The recent heavy rainfall has broken a 32-year record in the district, creating an unprecedented situation.” He praised the swift and coordinated response by the administration, noting that 170 people, including an elderly woman from Guna’s New City Colony, had been rescued.

Relief efforts have been significantly ramped up due to rising water levels in reservoirs. A 70-member NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) team conducted extensive rescue operations. Joint efforts by social organisations and local authorities have ensured the distribution of food packets, essential supplies, and the setting up of temporary shelters.

CM Dr. Yadav urged the administration to stay vigilant amid forecasts of further rainfall. He called on public representatives to remain present among citizens and offer continued support. He also acknowledged the hands-on involvement of Union Minister Scindia, who has been closely monitoring the situation.

Reassuring the flood-affected residents, Dr. Yadav said, “You will not be left alone in any adversity.” During his visit, he also expressed heartfelt thanks to the women who tied Rakhis on him as a symbol of faith and protection on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

Among the officials and public representatives present were MLA Shri Pannalal Shakya, District Panchayat President Shri Arvind Singh Dhakad, former Minister Shri Mahendra Singh Sisodia, former MLA Shri Rajendra Singh Saluja, Divisional Commissioner (Gwalior) Shri Manoj Khatri, and IG Shri Arvind Saxena.
