In a major announcement soon after winning the Punjab elections, the state's CM-designate said that politician-centric police deployment will be changed to a people-centric approach.

Aam Aadmi Party's Bhagwant Mann reportedly said that currently, Punjab police are providing security to politicians, while police stations lie vacant. He reportedly added that security of the people is more important, and so police will be deployed where they are needed.

Coinciding with Mann's statement, Punjab police reportedly withdrew 122 former ministers and MLAs. The list included Manpreet Singh Badal, Raj Kumar Verka, Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Brahm Mohindra, Sangat Singh Gilzian, and former Assembly Speaker KP Singh, according to news agency PTI.
