Indian Army chopper crash near LoC with Pakistan in J&K: pilot killed, co-pilot in ICU

In a distressing incident, an Army pilot died after his helicopter crashed near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. A Cheetah chopper reportedly crashed in north Kashmir's Gurez sector on March 11. The co-pilot was critically injured in the mishap.

The chopper was reportedly on its way to pick up a paramilitary soldier to take him to a hospital for treatment when the crash occurred. A search operation on foot, along with search and rescue helicopters was launched when the chopper lost communication with the forward post at Gujran. The wreckage was reportedly found in snow-covered Gujran Nallah area of Bandipora.

Major Sankalp Yadav, 29 years of age and hailing from Rajasthan's Jaipur, succumbed to his injuries at 92 Base Hospital, as per reports. The co-pilot is reportedly in stable condition and is admitted in the ICU. The cause of the crash is yet to be ascertained.
