Court of faith? Allahabad HC Judge calls for law to give heritage status to Ram, Bhagavad Gita

One can call it court of faith? An Allahabad High Court Judge after demanding fundamental rights for cows is back making headlines.

Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav has a special request this time round- the judge has opined that Lord Ram, Lord Krishna, the Ramayana, Gita and its authors Maharishi Valmiki and Maharishi Ved Vyas should be given a heritage status by the Parliament.

The Judge on Friday said that a law should be enacted to recognise the Hindu heritage as he also pitched for mandatory lessons on India’s heritage for all school children.

Yadav had made headlines earlier too, when he demanded that cow should be designated as the national animal of India and brought under the ambit of fundamental rights.

His latest demand has triggered a censure from the former Chief Justice of Allahabad HC Justice Govind Mathur, who was quoted by Bar and Bench, criticising Justice Yadav for misusing the court as a platform to impose his ideas, faith or philosophy.
