Indian flight forced to land in Pakistan: IndiGo plane diverted to Karachi days after SpiceJet case

Days after a SpiceJet plane was forced to land in Pakistan's Karachi, an IndiGo flight had to be diverted to the same city.

IndiGo's Sharjah-to-Hyderabad flight was forced to make a precautionary landing in Karachi on 17 July after the pilot reported technical issues in the aircraft. IndiGo's Airbus plane had a system fault in Engine 2 on the right side of the fuselage, as per an NDTV report quoting sources.

All passengers were safe, an IndiGo sent another plane to Karachi to complete the journey.

The incident occurred on a day that news reports suggested that IndiGo's technicians had written to airplane manufacturer Airbus. The technicians complained that the Indian airline was not following standard maintenance procedures which could risk passenger safety, as per a Hindustan Times report.

Less than 2 weeks earlier, on 5 July, a SpiceJet flight flying from Delhi to Dubai had to make an emergency landing in Pakistan's Karachi. The plane had a malfunctioning fuel indicator.
