Indian fighter jet fires missile at Indian Navy ship in BrahMos drill. Watch what happened

India announced multiple successful tests of the BrahMos missile on April 19. Successful maiden firing of the missile from warship INS Delhi from an upgraded modular launch was reported by news agency ANI.

The test "once again demonstrated long-range strike capability" of the BrahMos. The exercise also validated "integrated network-centric operations from frontline platforms".

Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force also announced a successful BrahMos exercise. Live firing of the missile was conducted from a Sukhoi Su30MkI fighter jet. IAF said that the missile "achieved a direct hit on the target" which was a decommissioned Indian Navy ship. The mission was conducted in "close coordination" by the air force and navy.

The BrahMos has been in news due to multiple reasons in recent times. When an Indian unarmed missile fell in Pakistan after being "accidentally" launched, it was speculated that it was a BrahMos missile.

On a positive note, the BrahMos is the subject of India's first major defence export deal. Philippines is buying the missiles for $375 million.
