The US has said that it will wait to see the results of India's probe into the alleged plot to kill a Sikh separatist on American soil.

The United States has said it will wait to see the results of the investigation announced by India concerning allegations of the involvement of an Indian official in a plot to assassinate a separatist Sikh leader in the US.
"We have noted at the most senior levels of this government &ndash; the secretary of state has raised this directly with his foreign counterpart that we take this issue very seriously. They told us they would conduct an investigation," State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller told reporters at his daily news conference on Tuesday.
"They have publicly announced an investigation. Now, we will wait to see the results of the investigation...," Miller said in response to a question.
American prosecutors have linked an Indian official to a man charged with conspiring to assassinate Sikh separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun on US soil.
India has described it as a "matter of concern" and asserted that follow-up action will be taken based on findings of a panel investigating the allegations.
The US, Miller said, has also urged India to cooperate with Canada's investigation of allegations of Indian involvement in the killing of a Canadian national.

A political slugfest broke out following the murder. While BJP claimed it was a "revenge plan" of the Congress after losing the state, Congress called it the 'return of jungle raj' as soon as the BJP came to power.
All prominent political leaders of the state including Congress's Ashok Gehlot, Sachin Pilot, BJP's Vasundhara Raje, Rajyavardhan Rathore, have condemned the killing.

A Pakistani woman, Javeria Khanum, has arrived in India to marry a Kolkata man, Sameer Khan. Their wedding is set to be held in January. They have been in a relationship for five years.

A Pakistani woman on Tuesday crossed over to India from the Wagah-Attari International Border to marry a Kolkata resident with whom her marriage has been fixed in January next year.
Karachi resident Javeria Khanum crossed over into the Indian side from Attari in Amritsar district where she was welcomed by her fiance Sameer Khan and some members of his family to the beats of 'dhol'.
Khanum has been granted a 45-day visa after two previous visa rejections and the Covid pandemic stalled their plans for around five years.
The couple, in a brief interaction with reporters at Attari, said the marriage will be solemnised in January next year.
"I have been granted a 45-day visa. I am very happy to be here. Just on arrival, I am already getting so much love here. In the first week of January the marriage will be solemnised," she said.
She had tried to get a visa on two occasions, but got lucky the third time. "It is a happy ending and a happy beginning," she said, expressing her happiness at being able to travel to India to get married.
&ldquo;Everyone back home was very happy. I can&rsquo;t believe I have got the visa after five years,&rdquo; she added.
Sharing how the couple got in touch, Khan said he expressed interest in marrying Khanum after seeing her photo on his mother&rsquo;s phone.
&ldquo;This started in May 2018. I had come home from Germany where I was studying. I saw her photo on my mother's phone and expressed my interest. I told my mother that I want to get married to Javeria,&rdquo; he said.
Earlier, the visa was rejected twice and in between there was the Covid pandemic, Khan said, adding that he was thankful to the Indian Government for the visa.
"My mother is very happy now that we will be getting married in January next year," he said.
Khan said his friends from his time in Germany &ndash; from Africa, Spain, the United States and other countries &ndash; are likely to attend his wedding.
The couple then left to catch a flight from Amritsar to Kolkata.

DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has pulled up party MP DNV Senthil Kumar for his remarks describing Hindi heartland as "gaumutra states", the party said on Tuesday. DMK always insisted on the need for a dignified approach while making public remarks, the party added.
The Dharmapuri MP's remarks had drawn instant condemnation from the BJP as well as its ally Congress, whose leaders asked him to tender an apology.
Senior DMK leader and Organising Secretary RS Bharathi said the MP has tendered a public apology.
Referring to the Parliament speech of Kumar relating to the outcome of the five-state elections, Bharathi said the MP had used "a word that gave a wrong meaning." "Upon knowing this, party president and chief minister Stalin strongly rebuked Senthil Kumar," he said in a statement.
He added the MP has issued a statement seeking public apology, stating that he had not made the said remarks with any particular intention.
Bharathi stressed on the need for all to maintain dignity while making public opinions.
The DMK founder late CN Annaudurai's principles of "Duty-Dignity-Discipline '' should be followed by all, he said and urged that partymen should refrain from making personal opinions on national issues.
While participating in a discussion on J&amp;K Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill in the House, Kumar had said the BJP can win elections only in the Hindi heartland states and not in south India.
While his description of the Hindi heartland as "gaumutra" states was expunged by the Lok Sabha Speaker later, the remarks sparked a controversy with several members across party lines condemning the DMK leader and the video of his speech going viral on social media.
Facing flak, he later apologised.
"Commenting on the results of the five recent state assembly elections, I have used a word in an inappropriate way. Not using that term with any intent, I apologize for sending the wrong meaning across," he said in a post on X.

According to the Chief Minister's Office, nearly 40 lakh people from 194 villages and two towns were affected by Michaung's impact, including the inundation of 25 villages.

The severe cyclonic storm Michaung, which crossed the Andhra Pradesh coast close to Bapatla on Tuesday and subsequently weakened into a cyclonic storm, left a trail of destruction in its wake.
Michaung is expected to subside into a deep depression over the next six hours, said an official.
The storm damaged 770-kilometre roads, uprooted 35 trees and killed three livestock, among others.
According to data shared by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), nearly 40 lakh people from 194 villages and two towns were affected by Michaung's impact, including the inundation of 25 villages.
Though there was no loss of human life on Tuesday, Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority Director BR Ambedkar told PTI that a four-year-old boy died after a hut wall collapsed on him in Tirupati district on Monday.
While another person died in Bapatla district, Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal told PTI that the cause of death was not related to the cyclone.
"The lone deceased person was found in a drunken state on a road by his motorcycle, which was not submerged under water, in the Inkollu village," Jindal said.
Across the state, 204 relief camps are accommodating 15,173 evacuees. As part of relief efforts, 18,073 food packets and more than 1 lakh water packets were distributed. Eighty health camps were also organised.
For the affected districts, the state government has sanctioned Rs 23 crore for relief efforts.
The damaged structures include 78 huts and a cattle shed while 232 houses were marooned. Two kuccha houses were fully damaged.
Under the roads and buildings department, 770 kilometres of surface roads suffered damage in the districts of Konaseema (234 kilometres), Prakasam (55 kilometres), Nellore (433 kilometres) and Tirupati (48 kilometres).
Nellore also witnessed the highest number of trees being uprooted with 29 out of the total 35.
Under the municipal administration department, 376 streetlights and 7.5 kilometres of roads were damaged.
Fourteen minor irrigation sources were also damaged in Tirupati.
The Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd suffered damage to 13 33-KV feeders, 312 11-KV feeders, 29 33/11-KV sub-feeders, nine 33-KV poles, 140 11-KV poles and 244-LT poles.
Under the influence of the severe cyclonic storm, 10 places -- seven in Tirupati and three in Nellore -- experienced more than 200 mm rainfall on Tuesday.
Manubolu in Nellore district recorded 366.5 mm rainfall.
Six State Disaster Response Force and an equal number of National Disaster Response Force teams were pressed into service on Tuesday.
With the rainwater receding, the state government has decided to enumerate agriculture and horticulture damage, the CMO said.
The Meteorological Department, meanwhile, noted that Michaung weakened into a cyclonic storm and lay centred over south coastal Andhra Pradesh near 16 degrees north (latitude) and 80.3 degrees east (longitude).
It is expected to move nearly northwards in the next six hours and further weaken into a deep depression, a Met official said in a press release.
Gales gusting up to speeds of 110 kilometres per hour are expected to prevail over west-central Bay of Bengal around the weather system for the next six hours and then gradually subside.
Along north Andhra Pradesh coast, squally winds reaching speeds of 60 kilometres per hour and gusting up to 65 kilometres per hour are likely to prevail over the next 12 hours and gradually decrease thereafter.
For Wednesday, the Met has forecast heavy rainfall -- 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm -- for Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Konaseema and Eluru districts.

The National Investigation Agency Saturday confiscated the property of banned outfit Sikhs for Justice's chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannu in Chandigarh,&nbsp; said official sources.
A 'property confiscation notice' was put up outside the residence of pro-Khalistan Pannu in Chandigarh, they said.
The action was taken under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
"1/4th share of house no 2033, sector 15-C, Chandigarh, owned by Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, a proclaimed offender in NIA case stands confiscated to the state under section 33 (5) of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 1967 by the orders of the NIA special court, SAS Nagar, Mohali, Punjab. This is for information of the general public," read the notice put up outside Pannu's house

BJP MPs submitted resignations from their memberships in the Parliament after meeting PM Modi and BJP chief JP Nadda.

Ten BJP MPs have resigned from the membership of the Parliament after winning the Assembly elections.
As per reports, the decision was taken after a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief JP Nadda.
Those who have resigned include Narendra Singh Tomar, Prahlad Joshi, Prahlad Singh Patel, Rakesh Singh, Uday Pratap and Riti Pathak from Madhya Pradesh; Arun Sao and Gomati Sai from Chhattisgarh and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Diya Kumari and Kirodi Lal Meena from Rajasthan.
As per reports, two other MPs, Union Minister Renuka Singh and Mahant Balaknath, are also expected to resign from the Lok Sabha.

A four-year-old girl who fell into a borewell in Madhya Pradesh&rsquo;s Rajgarh district on Tuesday died in a hospital in Bhopal, a few hours after her rescue early on Wednesday, a senior official said.
The child, identified as Mahi, was rescued alive around 2.45 am and was rushed to the Civil Hospital at Pachore, but her condition deteriorated en route, the official said.
The girl was then taken to the state-run Hamidia Hospital in Bhopal, about 70 km away, where she died during treatment around 6 am, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Kiran Wadia said.
The body will be handed over to the child&rsquo;s relatives after autopsy, she said.
Mahi fell into an open borewell in a field on Tuesday evening and was rescued by a team of experts who dug a parallel pit to a depth of about 25 feet.
She was stuck at 22 feet, and after connecting the two pits, she was rescued by the experts and rushed to the hospital, Rajgarh Superintendent of Police Dharmaraj Meena said.
The incident took place at Pipliya Rasoda village under Boda police station limits, he said.
Personnel from the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) had reached the spot and arrangements were made to provide oxygen inside the borewell shaft, he said.
Earlier, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had directed officials to send teams of SDERF, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to the site and asked the district administration to help in the rescue operation.

The ex-IPS officer called on Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati to stake a claim to form the government on December 6.

Zoram People's Movement leader Lalduhoma will take oath as the Mizoram chief minister on Friday, Raj Bhavan sources said.
Lalduhoma called on Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Wednesday to stake a claim to form the government.
"Lalduhoma will be sworn in as the chief minister on Friday at a function to be held at Raj Bhavan at 11 am," the sources said.
ZPM emerged victorious in the assembly polls on Monday, bagging 27 of the total 40 seats.
Lalduhoma, an ex-IPS officer who had served as the security in charge of former prime minister Indira Gandhi, held a meeting with the newly elected party candidates on Tuesday evening and discussed about formation of the council of ministers and distribution of portfolios, a party leader said.
The ZPM swept the state assembly polls, dethroning the incumbent Mizo National Front (MNF) which got only 10 seats.
The BJP trailed far behind with just two seats and the Congress just one.
Polling for the 40-member assembly polls was held on November 7, where more than 82 per cent of over 8.57 lakh voters exercised their franchise.&nbsp;

The Delhi Police are on alert after the US-based Khalistani supporter Gurpatwant Singh Pannun released a video message threatening to "shake the very foundation of Parliament" on December 13 -- the anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attack on Parliament.
A senior police officer said security has already been stepped up in and around Parliament. "No one will be allowed to disturb law and order," he said.
"When Parliament is on, we remain alert. We are taking all precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incident," the officer said adding that security has also been beefed up in entire Delhi. &nbsp;In the video, which also had a photo of the 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, the chief of the proscribed organisation Sikhs for Justice claimed that the Narendra Modi government tried to kill him and threatened to respond on December 13.
Pannu claimed that his response would shake "the very foundation of the Indian Parliament".&nbsp;
