Khattar: Haryana to launch special campaign to relocate 60,000 destitute cows to nearby Gaushalas

During the meeting, the Chairman of Gau Sewa Aayog, Shravan Kumar Garg, informed that from January 10, 2024, until now, a total of 8,200 destitute cows have been relocated to gaushalas across the entire state.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, taking an important step towards making the state free from stray cattle, has directed to launch of a special campaign from February 15 to 29 to relocate about 60,000 destitute cows to nearby gaushalas. The primary objective of this campaign is to remove stray cows from the state's roads and mitigate the risk of road accidents.

Manohar Lal was presiding over a meeting regarding the establishment of new gaushalas in the state. Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister Sh J.P. Dalal was also present.

While giving instructions to the concerned officials of the Gau Sewa Aayog, the Chief Minister said that under this campaign, the task of relocating destitute cows to gaushalas should be expedited to ensure the protection of cows in the state.

While instructing the officials, the Chief Minister said that further action should be taken on the proposals of panchayats for establishing gaushalas. Additionally, he directed the officials of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department and the Panchayati Raj Department to identify land for cow grazing in villages. In villages where cow grazing land exceeding 10 acres is identified, discussions should be initiated with the Panchayats for establishing gaushalas. Furthermore, a committee comprising officials from the Gau Sewa Aayog, Development and Panchayat Department, and other relevant departments should be formed to oversee this process.

Manohar Lal instructed the officials of Gau Sewa Aayog to ensure that cows are accommodated within the capacity of the gaushalas. Additionally, he emphasized the need for regular inspections of the gaushalas to ensure proper care and accommodation of the cattle.
