CM Sai congratulates Navleen Kaur, promises full support to Chhattisgarh’s rising archery talent

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday congratulated Mahasamund-based archer Navleen Kaur for securing a place in the upcoming National Games, reaffirming the state government's commitment to supporting emerging sports talent.

“The Chhattisgarh government is committed to recognising talent and ensuring that every player gets opportunities, resources and a platform to succeed based on their hard work, dedication, and potential,” said CM Sai in a statement.

Navleen, a resident of Bagbahara in Mahasamund district, has earned recognition for her achievements in archery. Born prematurely in the seventh month, she faced multiple health challenges early in life. Despite societal doubts, she chose to pursue sports, beginning her archery training in 2018 at Bihajhar Balashram, located five kilometres from her village.

She became Mahasamund’s first female archer and has since won several medals at the state level. In 2023, she represented Chhattisgarh at the FGFI National Archery Championship in Gujarat and secured second place in the senior state-level championship.

In February 2025, she clinched a gold medal in a state-level competition, and more recently, she won the compound round (girls category) at the City Open Archery Competition after switching to a modern compound bow gifted by her family.

CM Sai added, “Young athletes like Navleen are the foundation of Chhattisgarh’s future. The state government will provide every possible assistance to nurture such talent across all levels of sport.”

Navleen’s coach and sports officer Manoj Dhritlahare is currently guiding her training. She aspires to represent India in international competitions.

Praising her commitment to the sport, CM Sai said, “In an era where cricket dominates the sports landscape, a young athlete choosing archery and working hard to win medals for the state and the nation is not only commendable but deeply inspiring. Talents like Navleen send a powerful message to Chhattisgarh’s youth – with commitment, practice, and self-confidence, any goal is achievable.”
