Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai on Tuesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development works worth ₹241.50 crore under the Bhilai Municipal Corporation area.

Addressing the gathering, he also announced ₹20 crore for the construction of a new office building for the Bhilai Municipal Corporation.

“State Capital Region will benefit Raipur, Durg, Bhilai and Rajnandgaon along with the entire region. This will accelerate development works and expand urban facilities. All promises made in the Atal Vishwas Patra issued during the urban body elections will be fulfilled one by one,” said Chief Minister Sai.

Highlighting the government’s commitment, he added, “The government is extending full cooperation for the development of urban areas. Urban facilities are being rapidly expanded. To ensure good governance and accountability, the Department of Good Governance and Convergence has been formed. Administration across the state is being made digital and transparent, which is directly benefiting citizens.”

The Chief Minister also informed that Atal Digital Service Centres have already been launched in 1,460 gram panchayats of the state. “In the next six months, 5,000 more panchayats will be connected to this scheme. By April 24, 2026, Panchayati Raj Day, all gram panchayats in Chhattisgarh will have Atal Digital Service Centres,” he said.

Speaking about welfare measures, Sai noted, “In the past 20 months, our government has fulfilled most of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantees. For farmers’ economic progress, procurement of 21 quintals of paddy per acre and payment at ₹3,100 per quintal has been ensured. Women are receiving ₹1,000 per month under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, benefiting more than 70 lakh women. Under the Deendayal Upadhyay Landless Agricultural Labourer Scheme, landless farm labourers are being provided annual financial assistance of ₹10,000. So far, more than 22,000 devotees have visited Ayodhya under the Ramlala Darshan Yojana.”

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, also addressing the event, said, “Since the formation of the government, ₹7,000 crore has been approved in the last one year for the development of all urban bodies. Under the Nagrothan Yojana, funds are being provided for planned development of urban areas. In the past 18 months alone, Bhilai Municipal Corporation has been sanctioned ₹470 crore for development works.” He added that the government’s focus on cleanliness has yielded results with seven urban bodies in Chhattisgarh winning national sanitation awards for the first time, while 58 towns with populations under 20,000 have also been honoured.

During the event, CM Sai presented a shield to councillor Smriti Dodke for the “Swachhta Ward.” Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana received house entry certificates, while three beneficiaries were handed certificates under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. Motorised tricycles and wheelchairs were distributed to differently-abled citizens. Women’s self-help groups received cheques for economic activities, and the Radharani Women’s SHG was awarded a certificate under the Women for Tree scheme.

The ceremony was also addressed by Vaishali Nagar MLA Rikhesh Sen and Bhilai Mayor Neeraj Pal. Other dignitaries present included MLA Lalit Chandrakar, former Assembly Speaker Premprakash Pandey, former Minister Ramshila Sahu, and former MLA Labhachand Bafna, along with a large gathering of citizens.
