Champai Soren-led coalition govt to face floor test on Feb 5. Here's how numbers stack up

The Champai Soren-led coalition government is all set to seek a vote of trust on Monday, the first day of the two-day assembly session.

A day ahead of the vote on February 4, the legislators of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led alliance landed at the Birsa Munda Airport in Jharkhand on a chartered flight. They stayed at a resort in Hyderabad for the last three days to thwart any attempt of poaching by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The ruling coalition parties exuded confidence in winning the trust vote in the assembly on February 5.

Our MLAs are united... We have the support of 48 to 50 legislators," minister Alamgir Alam said, reports PTI news agency.

JMM lawmaker Mithilesh Thakur also asserted that the JMM-led coalition will sail through the trust vote.

"Many BJP legislators are also in support of the alliance in the state," he claimed.

Soren was administered the oath of office by Governor C P Radhakrishnan at the Raj Bhavan on February 2.

Along with him, senior Congress leader Alamgir Alam and RJD leader Satyanand Bhokta took oath as ministers.

Soren has claimed the support of 47 MLAs, comfortably crossing the halfway mark of 41 needed to form the government. The BJP and its allies, on the other hand, have 29 MLAs.
