BJP Criticizes Mahagathbandhan's Appeasement Politics at Bihar Meeting

Patna, July 2 (PTI): The Bihar unit of the BJP criticized the "appeasement politics" of the Mahagathbandhan led by Lalu Prasad's RJD, which has been vocal against the Waqf Act, during a meeting on Wednesday. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, a former national president, attended the state executive meeting where the party adopted a political resolution and a 'Vijay Sankalp Prastav'. The resolution declared that "Lalu Prasad and his allies cannot defeat us" in the upcoming Assembly polls.

The resolution delved into "11 years of the Modi government" and expressed opposition to "the appeasement politics of Lalu Yadav and the Mahagathbandhan." It chastised Tejashwi Yadav, son of the RJD leader, and Congress leaders Kanhaiya Kumar and Imran Pratapgarhi for attending a large rally opposing the Waqf Act just days prior. The resolution argued that calls to discard the Waqf Act were anti-Constitution and carried out in the name of appeasement politics, negatively impacting Pasmandas who have faced historical oppression.

Furthermore, the resolution stated, "The BJP will never compromise on the welfare of any section of society." It emphasized that the Waqf Amendment Act is crucial for ongoing social reforms and will benefit future generations, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The resolution also reflected on the Emergency imposed 50 years ago and criticized Indira Gandhi's 'Garibi Hatao' slogan, stating that Modi's leadership has enabled 27 crore people to escape poverty.

In addition, it praised Rajnath Singh for confronting China on its soil regarding its double standards on terror by not signing the joint statement at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Defence Minister's meeting.

The 'Vijay Sankalp Prastav' emphasized Bihar's economic growth under NDA rule. It also highlighted the Centre's approval of a caste census, addressing an emotionally charged issue in a state shaped by the Mandal politics.
