Vivek Agnihotri slams Bollywood for not learning from small budget films like 'Kashmiri Files', 'Kantara'

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri slammed Bollywood for not learning from the success of small-budget films like 'The Kashmir Files', which was helmed by him, and the Kannada film 'Kantara'.

Taking to Twitter, he cited examples of the aforementioned films along with 'Karthikeya 2' and R Madhavan's 'Rocketery: The Nambi Effect' and said that these films had no marketing or distribution support, but they still did wonders at the box office. He said the four films earned approximately Rs 800 crore at the ticket booth and the total cost of their production was Rs 75 crore. Calling Bollywood 'deaf and blind', he asked why they couldn't do this simple Maths and learn.

Several people reacted to his tweet. One user mentioned that 'unlearning is a difficult and time consuming process', while others differed from his claim.

Vivek Agnihotri's 'The Kashmir Files', made on a budget of Rs 15 crore was a sleeper hit and it grew with word of mouth, earning over Rs 300 crore worldwide.

Rishab Shetty's 'Kantara' has earned around Rs 250 crore worldwide and is continuing its dream run at the box office. It's the third highest grossing Kannada film of all time.

These films outperformed big-budget films like 'Laal Singh Chaddha' and 'Vikram Vedha'.
