Ukranian model sues Cannes security guard who targeted Kelly Rowland, K-pop idol YoonA and more

A security guard at Cannes has become a big news maker for all the wrong reasons. It’s the same staff who was caught mishandling Kelly Rowland, Massiel Taveras and South Korean actor Yoona on the red carpet. Now, a Ukrainian model Sawa Pontyjska has reportedly filed a complaint against the Cannes Film Festival after she was allegedly assaulted by the same security guard.

Ukrainian model files lawsuit

Ukrainian model Sawa Pontyjska has reportedly submitted a legal complaint. She alleged that the security guard assaulted her on the red carpet. She has also sought 1,00,000 euros as compensation for the damage to her reputation. A video has also emerged on social media showing her engaged in an altercation with the security guard.

As per the BBC report, Sawa claimed that she was brutally restrained when she tried to enter the venue despite having a ticket. "I was trying to escape from this lock. I went down, and I started to run away on the stairs because it was the way back [out]. She was trying to push me in[side], so nobody can see what she's doing with me. Then she kicked me out through the back door," she said.

Sawa also said that she tried to contact the festival organisers to request an apology, however, she did not receive any response. Earlier, she posted a video of the red carpet incident on her official Instagram handle. The video shows her struggling with the female guard as she was restricted. Sawa is seen trying to go back down the stairs and being stopped by another security personnel before being taken inside.

Other incidents with the same security guard

It’s not an isolated incident. Earlier, singer Kelly Rowland was also seen having a heated exchange with the guard. Dominican actor Massiel Taveras was also seen being blocked by the guard. Another video showed the same Cannes staff blocking Girls Generation’s Yoona. The netizens have been accusing the guard of racism.
