When the show's maker Rajan Shahi was making this serial, he couldn't decide upon the tiltle of the show. Earlier names like Rishton ki tale, Annu ki Kahani, Kahani Anupamaa Ki were suggested. However, the show was named after the show's lead character Anupamaa.
