‘The Elephant Whisperers’ wins Oscar: Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and others react

Indian director Kartiki Gonsalves and producer Guneet Monga's Tamil-language documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ became the first Indian film to win the first-ever Oscars in the Best Documentary Short category. During the acceptance speech, Kartiki dedicated her victory to India. Several celebrities also took to social media to congratulate the team.

The co-producer of the documentary, Guneet Monga, expressed her happiness on social media. She wrote, ‘Tonight is historic as this is the first ever Oscar for an Indian production. Thank you Mom Dad Guruji Shukrana To my Co-Producer Achin Jain, Team Sikhya, Netlflix, Aloke, Sarafina, WME Bash Sanjana. My lovely Husband Sunny. Kartiki for bringing & weaving this story’.

She also tweeted, ‘We just win the first ever Oscar for an Indian Production! Two women did this! I am still shivering.’

Actor Alia Bhatt took to her Instagram stories and wrote, ‘uff what a visual! Historic!’ She also congratulated Guneet Monga and the entire team.

Priyanka Chopra shared the video of their winning moment and expressed her excitement.

Several other celebrities such as Vicky Kaushal, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kangana Ranaut, Chiranjeevi Konidela, cricketer Dinesh Kartik, and others too congratulated the team.
