"On behalf of our client, Mrs. Saira Rahman, Vandana Shah and Associates issue the following statement regarding her current health condition," the statement begins. "A few days ago, Mrs. Saira Rahman was hospitalized due to a medical emergency and underwent surgery. During this challenging time, her sole focus is on a speedy recovery."

She is thankful to close friends, including Resul Pookutty and his wife Shadia from Los Angeles, Vandana Shah, and A.R. Rahman himself, for their unwavering support. This health scare follows the couple's recent announcement of their separation after nearly 29 years of marriage. Through another statement issued by Vandana Shah, Saira and renowned musician A.R. Rahman cited "significant emotional strain" as their reason for parting ways.
