Saif Ali Khan stabbed: Actor recovering after attack, team confirms he's out of danger

Following the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, his team issued a statement confirming that the actor is out of danger and recovering.

"Saif Ali Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in recovery, and the doctors are monitoring his progress. All family members are safe, and the police are investigating the incident," the statement mentioned.

The actor’s team also expressed gratitude towards the medical professionals at Lilavati Hospital, saying, "We would like to thank Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Dr. Nitin Dange, Dr. Leena Jain, and the team at Lilavati Hospital. Thank you to all his fans and well-wishers for their prayers and thoughts during this time."

Dixit Gedam, DCP Zone 9 of Mumbai Police, confirmed that an investigation into the attack is underway, though he withheld further details. "Investigation is underway. I can't disclose the details," he stated.

The incident occurred at Saif Ali Khan's residence in the 'Satguru Sharan' building in Bandra. The altercation began when an intruder reportedly confronted the actor’s maid.

When Saif tried to intervene and diffuse the situation, it turned physical. The actor sustained injuries during the struggle and was immediately taken to Lilavati Hospital for medical treatment.

According to Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Lilavati Hospital, Saif Ali Khan was admitted at 3 am on Thursday. The actor suffered six stab wounds, two of which were deep, one near his spine, and a foreign object was found close to the same area.

In response to the attack, Ashoke Pandit, President of the Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA), condemned the assault.

"The attack on film star Saif Ali Khan in his own house is a matter of concern. IFTDA condemns this attack. The concern is about the security of the building, and the security agencies of the building, as to how an intruder reaches the 12th floor and enters the house. This is a matter of investigation, which the Mumbai Police is very competent and capable of looking into this matter," Pandit stated.

Several prominent figures, including Jr. NTR and Chiranjeevi, expressed shock and concern over the attack.

Jr. NTR, who recently worked with Saif in the Telugu hit "Devara," took to X, saying, "Shocked and saddened to hear about the attack on Saif sir. Wishing and praying for his speedy recovery and good health."

Chiranjeevi also shared his sentiments: "Deeply disturbed by the news of the attack by an intruder on #SaifAliKhan. Wishing and praying for his speedy recovery."

Actor and BJP MP Ravi Kishan, who worked alongside Saif in films like "Agent Vinod" and "Bullet Raja," described the incident as saddening.

Pooja Bhatt expressed her concerns on social media, tagging the Mumbai Police and questioning the lawlessness in the city.

"I’ve never felt so unsafe," she posted, highlighting the vulnerability of celebrities in Mumbai.

Maharashtra Congress chief spokesperson Atul Londhe Patil criticized the state's handling of the situation, calling the law and order situation in Maharashtra a "complete collapse."He further criticized the Chief Minister’s inability to manage the home ministry effectively, suggesting that it should be handed over to a competent and independent minister.

"The law and order situation in Maharashtra has completely collapsed. There is pressure from the government on the administration. There is political interference... This is a sheer failure of the Home Minister and the government. Political interference should stop immediately," Patil added.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut attacked the BJP-led state government over the incident and asked when artists like Saif Ali Khan are attacked then to what extent the common public is safe?

The UBT MP questioned Maharashtra's Home Minister on the prevailing law and order situation in the state. Raut further claimed that such incidents are happening on a "daily basis" in slum areas but this incident came to light because a celebrity was attacked.
