Rupali Ganguly Urges Govt to Recognize TV Artists with Awards

New Delhi, Aug 5 (PTI) – Rupali Ganguly, the prominent star of the hit television series "Anupamaa," has emphasized the need for government recognition of TV stars through awards, highlighting that they work tirelessly to contribute to the entertainment industry.

Ganguly, recognized as one of the leading figures on television, expressed her belief that TV artists do not receive the acknowledgment they truly deserve, despite their relentless efforts.

“There are National Awards for everyone from film stars to content creators. But there's nothing for TV artists," she remarked during an event.

She further elaborated on the challenges faced by TV artists, stating, "When a film star works continuously, it makes headlines. But no one talks about how we, the TV artists, worked non-stop from 6 am to 6 pm during the pandemic. I request the government to consider us also. We work very hard and it'll be nice to have some validation."

Ganguly also commended Smriti Irani for her return to television with the reboot of the iconic show "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi."

"I am very proud that Smriti ji returned to TV, it's such a big validation. Her comeback will make a lot of difference, and it will bring all the eyes back to television," she added.

With a flourishing television career, Ganguly is fondly remembered for her role as Monisha Sarabhai in "Sarabhai vs Sarabhai." She also starred in the popular show "Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi," and is currently captivating audiences in her role as the lead character in "Anupamaa," which has remained one of the most-watched television shows for five years.
