Queen Elizabeth II death: Singer Harry Styles honoured the Queen during his concert

Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, died at the age of 96 on Thursday (Sept 08). Soon after the news broke, tributes started to pour in and celebrities took to social media to pay homage to the beloved queen.

A video of singer Harry Styles paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth II during his concert at Madison Square Garden in New York has also surfaced online. Addressing the crowd about the unfortunate news, he honoured the Queen by saying, ‘Please join me in a round of applause for 70 years of service. Thank you, Madison Square Garden.’ The video from his concert is being widely shared on social media by fans and attendees of the events.

The royal family shared a portrait of the late monarch and announced the death of the queen with an official statement on their social media handles.

The newly ascended King Charles III, her eldest son, who has succeeded his mother on the throne also released a statement, saying, ‘The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family. We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms, and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world. During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.’

Harry Styles is currently performing his 15-night residency at Madison Square Garden, which ends on September 21.
