BTS being investigated for alleged music chart manipulation, confirms KOCCA

Korean Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) recently confirmed that the popular K-pop band BTS is being investigated after music chart manipulation allegations. Following complaints of chart rigging back in 2017, the popular Korean boyband once again landed in trouble earlier this month amid the ADOR vs HYBE drama. Now, Korean media reports have revealed that the Korean Ministry of Culture will be looking into the matter in a more in-depth manner.

HYBE's statement about chart rigging

Earlier, HYBE had released a statement about the same which read, "Allegations of chart manipulation, marketing manipulation, concept plagiarism, connections to a cult, and other such claims that tarnish BTS' reputation are false. We have repeatedly clarified that there is no such activity."

As per K-media reports, the ministry will be getting in touch with the BTS agency to get a better understanding of the matter and conduct a thorough investigation. Following in-depth research into the matter, the final report will be sent to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Accusations against BTS agency

Despite numerous accusations over the years, HYBE has consistently denied these claims whenever they have surfaced. Initial complaints were lodged with the Ministry of Culture but were later transferred to the KCCA.

The accusations initially surfaced in 2017 following a blackmailing incident. The group was threatened by individuals who claimed they would expose alleged malpractice at the BTS agency which supposedly occurred in albums released by the group in 2015.

For the unversed, BTS is a popular South Korean boyband consisting of Jin, RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. All seven members of the popular group are currently serving their mandatory military service in the Army.
