Karisma Kapoor’s Kids Contest Rs 30,000 Crore Will in Court

New Delhi, Oct 14 (PTI) - A legal battle is unfolding in the Delhi High Court as Karisma Kapoor's children challenge the authenticity of their late father Sunjay Kapur's purported will, reportedly valued at Rs 30,000 crore. During a recent hearing, the counsel representing Samaira and Kiaan Raj highlighted a peculiar aspect of the will, arguing that it could not have been drafted by Sunjay Kapur as it uses "feminine pronouns" to describe him.

Before Justice Jyoti Singh, the counsel pointed out this "fundamental question," asserting that the use of feminine pronouns in crucial parts of the will indicates that Sunjay Kapur might have signed it under suspicious circumstances.

"Author of the clause could not have been Sunjay Kapur," the counsel argued, emphasizing the absurdity of the situation where Sunjay Kapur is described as a woman. "Unless Sunjay was of unsound mind and incapable of reading, he could never have signed this."

Samaira and Kiaan Raj's stepmother, Priya Kapur, is a central figure in this legal tangle. The counsel accused her and other defendants of remaining silent about who prepared the will, which has raised further suspicions.

The high court was informed that alleged errors in the will include incorrect details such as a wrong address for his daughter and misspellings of his son's name. These have cast doubts on the will's authenticity.

The dispute has intensified with allegations against Priya Kapur of being "greedy" and compared to a "Cinderella stepmother," referring to the fairytale where a young woman is mistreated by her stepmother.

Earlier, on September 26, the court had directed Priya Kapur to submit a confidential list of Sunjay Kapur's assets and advised the involved parties to maintain media discretion regarding the property dispute.

The counsel for the children claims that Priya has acquired 60% of the assets, approximately 12% for her son, and 75% of the trust, suggesting possible forgery.

The unresolved issues continue as the court is set to resume the hearing, with both sides gearing up to present their cases. Meanwhile, Priya Kapur has declared to the court that she already obtained Rs 1,900 crore from the family trust.
