'Jai Hanuman': Director announces 'HanuMan' sequel on occasion of Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha

Prashant Varma's ‘HanuMan’ has been garnering immense praise ever since its release. Now, on the occasion of Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha, the makers have announced the sequel of the superhero action spectacle, titled ‘Jai Hanuman’.

Director Prashant Varma took to X to share the news and mentioned that the pre-production of the movie started on January 22. He shared the first-look poster of the upcoming movie, accompanied by an image of himself holding the bound script for the forthcoming film.

‘With gratitude for the immense love and support showered upon #HanuMan from audiences across the globe, I stand at the threshold of a new journey by making a promise to myself! #JaiHanuman Pre-Production Begins on the auspicious day of #RamMandirPranPrathistha,’ he wrote on X.

About ‘HanuMan’

‘HanuMan’, starring Teja Sajja and Amritha Aiyer, has earned over ₹100 crore at the worldwide box office. The film, which also stars Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Vinay Rai, and Raj Deepak Shetty in key roles, hit the screens on January 15, coinciding with the occasion of Makar Sankranti. Set in the fictional village of Anjanadri, ‘HanuMan’ marks the beginning of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU).

Despite being released simultaneously with major projects such as Trivikram Srinivas' "Guntur Kaaram" starring Mahesh Babu, Sailesh Kolanu's "Saindhav" starring Venkatesh Daggubati, Vijay Binni's "Naa Saami Ranga" starring Nagarjuna, and Arun Matheswaran's "Captain Miller" starring Dhanush, "Hanu Man" managed to garner an exceptional response from the audience, surpassing its rivals and excelling at the box office.

Contribution to Ram Temple

Ahead of the film’s release, the makers announced that they would donate ₹5 for every ticket sold to the Ram Mandir. They have already donated a cheque of ₹14,85,810 from the 2,97,162 tickets sold during the film's premieres. They will also contribute ₹2,66,41,055, from the 53,28,211 tickets sold.

Teja Sajja on ‘Hanuman’

Teja Sajja spoke about the film with news agency ANI and said, ‘The very idea of doing a superhero film is very exciting for me, has been exciting throughout the process. In this film, a young boy gets superpowers by the grace of Lord Hanuman and then how he fights for his people and his religion.’

He added, ‘This film has superhero action sequences for the entertainment of children and a lot of comedy. At the same time, its our history, is also connected with the superhero element. We've tried to blend in our Indian 'itihaas' with the superhero concept so it's a very entertaining film.’
