International Emmys 2023: Jim Sarbh loses to Martin Freeman in the Best Actor category

Martin Freeman emerged victorious over Jim Sarbh in the Best Actor category at the International Emmy Awards, winning for his role in ‘The Responder.’

Jim, nominated for his portrayal of Homi J Bhabha in the acclaimed series ‘Rocket Boys,’ fell short in the competition.

The ceremony, which took place on November 20 in New York City, also saw producer Ekta Kapoor being honoured with the prestigious International Emmy Directorate Award.

Meanwhile, Vir Das secured the Comedy award, but Shefali Shah faced disappointment in Best Actress category.

The Sony LIV show ‘Rocket Boys’, spread over two seasons, is based on the lives of Homi J Bhabha and Vikram Sarabha. It chronicles how two of the greatest Indian scientists shaped the country’s future.

‘Rocket Boys’ gained Jim a wider acclaim and fan base as he took on the daunting task of portraying the life of the Indian nuclear physicist on screen.

The global recognition for Jim comes after a decade of his breakthrough with Sonam Kapoor starrer ‘Neerja’, in which he played one of the terrorists who hijacked an aircraft.

Jim Sarbh other equally brilliant outings include ‘A Death in a Gunj’, ‘Padmaavat’, ‘Sanju’ and two Prime Video series, ‘Made in Heaven’ and ‘Four More Shots Please’.

In the last two years, Jim has starred in two commercials but well received films. He re-teamed with Sanjay Leela Bhansali after ‘Padmaavat’ for Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, followed by his 2023 feature ‘Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway’, headlined by Rani Mukerji.
