‘India’s Got Latent’ faces backlash as FIRs filed against Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina & others

A major controversy has erupted over Samay Raina’s show, ‘India’s Got Latent’, after an episode featuring YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia sparked widespread outrage. The backlash began when Allahbadia, also known as 'Beer Biceps', asked a participant inappropriate and offensive questions about his parents, leading to calls for the show’s ban.

Escalation of the Controversy
Following public outrage, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) intervened, resulting in the removal of the controversial episode from YouTube. Allahbadia later issued a video apology, admitting his mistake and acknowledging that “comedy wasn’t his strength.”

The controversy has since intensified, with multiple FIRs filed against those involved in the show. On Tuesday, Mumbai police officers were seen outside Allahbadia’s residence, while influencer Apoorva Mukhija appeared at Khar Police Station with her lawyer to record her statement. The FIRs also include prominent social media personalities Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Mukhija, and Samay Raina.

Legal & Political Ramifications
The Maharashtra cyber department has alleged that Samay Raina deliberately uploaded the controversial episode to stir public outrage. The issue has even reached parliamentary discussions, with a panel set to review regulations on social media content. The matter was also raised in the Lok Sabha, highlighting growing concerns over online content moderation.

What Lies Ahead?
The controversy has reignited the debate over freedom of speech versus content responsibility. With authorities stepping in and legal action underway, this case could pave the way for stricter regulations on online platforms. The outcome of the FIRs and government scrutiny may significantly impact the future of digital content creation in India.
