'Ant-Man' star Evangeline Lilly announces retirement from acting: 'A new season is here & I'm ready'

Marvel star Evangeline Lilly has bid farewell to her acting career. The actor revealed the big news to her fans in an Instagram post recently. With the post, she also shared a two-decade-old video of herself in which she talked about retiring from her profession in 10 years.

Evangeline Lilly has announced her retirement from acting. In her Instagram post, also featuring footage of the actor from 2006, Lilly shared her dreams for her life and career 10 years later. In the throwback video, a young Lilly said that in a decade, she hopes to be a retired actress, have a family with two children, and be a writer and humanitarian.

Attached to the video was a lengthy caption where she expressed her humble gratitude towards her fans. She added that she might return to Hollywood someday, but for now, this chapter is closed. "I am so filled with joy and contentment today as I live out my vision," Lilly wrote in the caption. "Praise God, I feel so grateful for my blessings. Stepping away from what seems like the obvious choice (wealth and fame) can feel scary at times, but stepping into your dharma replaces the fear with fulfilment," the 'Ant-Man' actor continued. "I might return to Hollywood one day, but, for now, this is where I belong. A new season has arrived, and I AM READY...and I AM HAPPY," she wrote.

Lilly's MCU career

With the recent update, uncertainty looms around Lilly's MCU career as fans wonder if she will return to reprise her role as Hope van Dyne who has featured in several Marvel films.

Following her announcement, Lilly also spoke to Variety and revealed that she had been on a hiatus from acting for the past three years already after she wrapped up the shooting of her last release 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.' She also confirmed that she is not under any contractual obligations or taking on any work in the entertainment industry at the moment.

Aside from her MCU stint, Evangeline Lilly is also known for her role in the sci-fi film series, 'Lost'. She is also the author of a children's book series 'The Squickerwonkers'.
