Emmy Awards 2021: Netflix show 'The Crown' sweeps Drama category with 7 big awards

The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night were dominated by Netfix show 'The Crown', Apple TV's 'Ted Lasso" and HBO show 'Mare of Easttown' , which took home a whopping 10 of the 12 acting awards.

'The Crown' dominated the drama category picking up 7 big awards.

Olivia Colman, who played the role of Queen Elizabeth II on the show, bagged the award for Lead Actress in a Drama Series for 'The Crown'.

Josh O’Connor bags who played Prince Charles on the latest season of 'The Crown', won the award for Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Gillian Anderson who played the role of Margaret Thatcher on 'The Crown' took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

The award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama series was won by Tobias Menzies, who played the role of Prince Philip on the show.

Apart from that, 'The Crown' also won the awards for Best Writing and Best Direction.

Actor Jason Sudeikis was named Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy for his role of the sensitive soccer coach in Apple TV's 'Ted Lasso'

Academy-award winning actor Kate Winslet took home the award for Lead actress in a limited series or movie for HBO show 'Mare of Easttown'.

Scott Frank who directed Netflix show 'The Queen’s Gambit' won the award for Outstanding Director for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

After going virtual in 2020, the Emmys are being held in-person this year, but the number of attendees have been limited to 600, keeping Covid norms in mind.
