Bhojpuri actor Amrita Pandey was found dead at her apartment in Bihar on April 27. She reportedly shared a cryptic message on WhatsApp hours before her death. ‘Do naav me savaar thi uski zindagi, humne apni naav duba ke uska safar aasaan kar diya (Their life was on two boats, we made their path easier by sinking our boat),’ read her alleged post.

Her family stated that she was anxious about her career due to a lack of work opportunities and was battling depression.

What the police say

The City Superintendent of Police, Shri Raj, announced a high-level investigation into the case. A dedicated team has been assembled, and family members are currently being questioned. Further steps are being taken in the matter.

The Jogsar Police received a report of a woman's suspected suicide at the Divyadharma Apartment in Adampur Ship Ghat on April 27. Upon entering the premises, they found actress Amrita Pandey's body on the bed. According to statements from family members reported by TOI, Amrita's sister discovered her hanging from a noose around 3:30 pm. Attempts were made to save her, and she was rushed to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The Jogsar police station is currently investigating her death.

Amrita had married Chandramani Jhangad, an animation engineer from Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, in 2022. Her last appearance was in the web series 'Pratishodh', and she had previously worked with Bhojpuri star Khesari Lal Yadav in 'Deewanapan'.
