      Comedian Raju Srivastava passed away at the age of 58. He was admitted to AIIMS hospital in Delhi on August 10 after suffering a heart attack. He reportedly fainted during a gym workout at a hotel. He underwent an angioplasty and had been on a ventilator ever since.

      Born in Kanpur

      The comedian was born as Satya Prakash Shrivastav on December 25, 1963, in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

      Career as an actor

      Raju Srivastava has briefly featured in Bollywood films like 'Maine Pyar Kiya', 'Baazigar' and 'Bombay To Goa'.

      His big break

      He gained recognition with the comedy talent show 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge' which aired on TV between 2005-2017. He was the second runner-up on the show. Raju then went on to participate in the spin-off, 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge - Champions', in which he won the title of ‘The King of Comedy’. He has also been part of 'Bigg Boss 3' and 'The Kapil Sharma Show’.

      Marriage

      Comedian-actor married Shikha in 1993. They are parents to two children - Antara and Ayushman.

      Politics

      The Samajwadi Party fielded Raju Srivastava from Kanpur for the 2014 General Elections. However, he returned the ticket. He then joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in March 2014. Raju Srivastava is currently the chairman of the Film Development Council Uttar Pradesh.
