UP Election 2022: Akhilesh swipe at UP Dy CM over Mathura Mandir tweet, says 'distress call to Krishna'

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Friday took a dig at Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya over his comment of a Mandir in Mathura.

Maurya had earlier this week stirred the political cauldron in the poll-bound state by saying that the BJP was preparing to build a temple for Lord Krishna at Mathura.

Snapping back at Maurya, Akhilesh said that while Krishna is the God for all, those in distress tend to remember him more. The SP chief had earlier said that BJP raking up Mathura Mandir issue shows that the party is sensing defeat in the upcoming polls and is trying to polarise the election.

Mathura is considered to be the birthplace of Lord Shri Krishna.

The senior BJP leader is likely to have made the comment ahead of the UP Assembly election to rally the BJP support base in state.

The supposed temple site, which is a subject of multiple lawsuits, is located inside an old mosque in Mathura and shares its premises with a prominent temple.
